January 16, 2025

BOULDER, COLO – (January 16, 2025) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Get ready to experience the thrill of adventure like never before! The Boulder International Film Festival’s Adventure Film Program is back for its fifth year, promising a heart-pounding lineup of the world’s most inspiring adventure films and shorts. Mark your calendars for March 13-16, and grab your passes today for an event you won’t want to miss.
What sets this year apart? The program’s centerpiece is the critically acclaimed Champions of the Golden Valley, a documentary that Variety calls “The ultimate underdog story.” Directed by Ben Sturgulewski and produced by Katie Stjernholm—both Colorado locals—this film takes you deep into the heart of Afghanistan’s mountains, where a ski race brings rival communities together in a moving celebration of shared humanity.
“We call the mountains outside of Boulder home and can’t wait to share this unique mountain story with our community at the Boulder International Film Festival,” says producer Katie Stjernholm. “Champions of the Golden Valley shows how sport can bridge divides, cultures, and value systems—a message that feels incredibly timely. We’re incredibly excited to bring this film to Boulder and believe that festival audiences will resonate with this story steeped in resilience and hope.”
Passes for the Adventure Film Program are available now at https://biff1.com/adventure/. The BIFF Adventure Film Pass grants access to all three days of films and admission to the Adventure Film Party on Friday, March 14, from 9pm to midnight at the Velvet Elk Lounge in Boulder. Don’t miss the live music, gear giveaways, and delicious food and drinks—a celebration to kick off an unforgettable weekend!
Can’t wait to learn more? The full film lineup will be announced on February 21, 2025. Each story promises to inspire, uplift, and remind us why the spirit of adventure calls to us all.
