Aleck Brings the Party to the Mountain

December 27, 2022

New app brings enhanced communication and more resort maps for all skiers and snowboarders

Park City, UT (Dec. 27, 2022)/OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – For the 2022-23 winter season, Aleck, the makers of the Aleck 006, the industry’s best-selling wireless helmet audio and communication system, is changing the term “no friends on pow days” to “all friends on pow days” with a new group communication app available to everyone. It pairs with any pods, earbuds, or helmet audio system so everyone can stay connected and join the party.

Party Mode is the highlight of the new app, offering an always-open group comms channel so users can live-chat to anyone in their group, regardless of where they are on the mountain. There’s no need to push a button to speak, just enter the chat in the morning and keep the party going all the way until après. When that slacker bud arrives late, they can easily join the chat too (and get some prized intel on where to find the secret pow stashes).

The enhanced Friend Finder delivers a new, larger map view with clear location of friends and family, so users can see who’s at the resort with real-time location information. Friends can check in to see if others have arrived yet, and families can quickly locate each other even when the speediest little ripper takes a wrong turn.

“Our goal with the new app is to provide the best on-mountain communication tool available for all skiers and snowboarders,” said Stephen Catterson, founder and CEO of Aleck. “Of course, we’d love everyone to use an Aleck 006 system but realistically, not everyone has one. The new app ensures everyone, on all audio systems, can use the app’s features to connect and have the best day out on the mountain together.”

Building on Aleck’s partnership with Mapsynergy, app users now have access to more super-detailed digital resort Skimaps within the app. More than 560 North American resorts are now available to download, including over 120 in Canada.

Paired together with the Aleck 006, app users can also take advantage of glove-friendly comm controls and custom audio equalization. Other app improvements include a user interface with fewer screens and high contrast controls, easier group management, over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates, and backwards compatibility with older 006 devices.

The new Aleck app is available for free download on the App Store and Google Play. Leading the helmet audio field, the Aleck 006 system is widely available for purchase online and at specialty retailers. For more information, please visit Aleck.io.
