Backcountry Partners with Cirque Series as a Premier Event Sponsor

Retailer to connect with trail running community and amplify stoke for the trail running series

PARK CITY, Utah (June 29, 2021)— Backcountry, the leading specialty retailer for outdoor gear and apparel, teams up with Cirque Series, the top mountain running series in the United States. As a premier partner of the Cirque Series, Backcountry will attend each of the six scheduled events this season to elevate the runner experience and create meaningful personal connections through onsite events and activations.

“The Cirque Series events are high-energy, competitive and extremely fun trail running events that bring together passionate mountain athletes who are constantly pushing themselves and the sport,” says Sarah Crockett, Backcountry chief marketing officer. “As a premier partner, our main goal is to elevate the runner’s experiences and build energy and excitement at each event, so we know this partnership will be a blast.”

The highly anticipated Cirque Series is comprised of the following six events:

  • Brighton, Utah – July 3
  • Alta, Utah – July 17
  • Alyeska, Alaska – July 31
  • Snowbird, Utah – August 21
  • Arapahoe Basin, Colorado – September 4
  • Grand Targhee, Wyoming – September 18

Three of the events are based just outside of Park City, Utah, the home of Backcountry and location of the company’s brand-new retail store. Backcountry’s close proximity to several of the Cirque Series events will allow the brand to create unique and engaging onsite event touchpoints and activations, Backcountry giveaways, on-course photo activations, spray-on tattoos, yard games and more.

“Backcountry is already ramping up the stoke for Cirque Series. They’ll be hauling the Backcountry Airstream to five of the events and will create a ton of fun and engaging activities at each race,” says Cirque Series founder, Julian Carr. “We’re extremely grateful for Backcountry’s support and are looking forward to a high-energy season.”

In addition to on-site events, Backcountry will be supporting the Cirque Series through social media with gear recommendations and authentic storytelling, as well as vendor partner integrations, including a collaboration with On Running for shoe giveaways at each race. Backcountry will also donate apparel for the Cirque Series’ annual Gear Stash Challenges and provide top race finishers with gift cards.
