Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival Kicks off 2022 Artist Search

Louisville, CO (May 3, 2022) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Rab, an industry leader in merging the development of quality technical gear and apparel with sustainability and environmental awareness, along with festival partner and multifunctional headwear brand BUFF, announced today that entries are now being accepted from emerging and established artists and illustrators to design this year’s artwork for the celebrated Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival.
Rab has served as a valued and collaborative presenting partner of the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival since 2018. The world’s best mountain films, books, and speakers take the spotlight each fall at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in Banff, Alberta during the annual Mountain Film and Book Festival, and this year the festival will take place Oct. 29 through Nov. 6.
“When we started talking about the artist search, the goal was clear: To present an opportunity for artists to share their love of the outdoors through art,” said Rab marketing coordinator Annalee Loomer. “We’ve had tremendous success with this program in the past and we are excited to make more meaningful connections through the artist search in 2022 and beyond.”
Last year Rab collaborated with Banff Mountain Festival and BUFF to select California-based artist Bryn Merrell (pictured below) in creating the festival’s signature artwork. This year the partners are looking for a new artist to help shape, design, and create a custom piece that speaks to a shared love of the outdoors and passion for the environment.
“It was an honor to be selected for the 2021 Banff Artist Search and work alongside BUFF and Rab to create an alpine-inspired design for last year’s festival,” Merrell said. “Both entities gave me complete creative freedom to piece together this design and create a whimsical take that I felt the festival-goers would be able to connect with. I’ll be following the Banff Artist search for years to come and can’t wait to see what the future selected artists’ have in store!”

Artists looking to submit their existing artwork for the Banff Mountain Festival 2022 Artist Search can either email their artwork to 2022BanffArtistSearch@equipuk.com or post photos of their existing artwork on Instagram and tag Tag #2022BanffArtistSearch, @Rab.Equipment @buffcanada and @Banffmountainfestival. The deadline for all submissions is May 16.
Applicants must be 18 years or older to participate. The selected artist will be commissioned to create art to be screen printed in no more than three t-shirt colors and in unlimited neckwear colors.
