Can’d Aid Spreads People Powered Do-Goodery for COVID-19 Crisis Relief

April 29, 2020

As underserved and rural communities across the country prepare for necessity shortages and income losses, Can’d Aid and friends distribute water and morer to families and communities in need.

LONGMONT, CO (April 29, 2020) — Can’d Aid, a nationally recognized nonprofit focused on people powered do-goodery, has earned a reputation for spearheading innovative new programs that respond and adapt to evolving community needs. This couldn’t be more true during the COVID-19 community relief efforts across the country, as Can’d Aid aims to provide relief to our most vulnerable populations. Over the last six weeks, Can’d Aid’s new and evolving programs have focused on:

TOWNS: Can’d Aid, along with Oskar Blues Brewery, Ball Corporation, Atlas Copco and Coyote Logistics provides nearly 200,000 cans of water to the following communities in need:

  • 48,000 cans to the Food Bank of the Rockies
  • 50,400 cans to the Navajo Nation & Hopi Tribes in Flagstaff, AZ: Learn more at the original release.
  • 50,400 cans to the Navajo Nation in Window Rock, AZ
  • 50,400 cans on May 4, 2020 to go to United Food Bank in Mesa, AZ (additionally supported by Rio Tinto)

With a new Giving Tuesday Now — focused on COVID-19 — approaching next week, those that can support Can’d Aid’s canned water donations may donate here. $240 buys a pallet of water and $10 buys a case of water.

PEN PAL NETWORK: With school out, and parents and children in search of activities in lieu of their regular routines, Can’d Aid launched the People Powered Pen Pal Network, connecting young and old, old-school style. Visit candaid.org to learn more and get connected with a pen pal.

ART KITS: Can’d Aid is rallying volunteers to help stuff art kits for children in foster care during this especially trying time.

  • Senior citizens at RiverPoint Community Center helped package 100 art kits
  • Employees at RMT Trucking are stuffing 100 art kits
  • Customers at Infinite Monkey Theorem can stuff art kits starting on 5/1 while picking up to-go orders of wine

LOVE YUR MAMA: In April, Can’d Aid launched a cleanup campaign for Earth Week that encourages participants to continue their cleanups as we welcome warmer spring days. Their ‘One Can’ campaign encourages solo neighborhood clean ups while people are spending more time at home, by picking up just one piece of trash to recycle while out on a daily walk. One straw, one plastic bag, one can. One can make a difference. Learn more at the original release.
