Technical and Minimal: New Winter 20/21 Outerwear, Apparel and Accessories Provide Premium Level Performance and Sustainability with Focus on the Essentials

LA CLUSAZ, France – February 18, 2021 – Candide Thovex, legendary athlete and one of freeskiing’s most creative, uncompromising and unconventional individuals, has distilled his vision into CANDIDE, a new brand offering a collection of technical outerwear, apparel and accessories that provide the fundamental elements of design, optimal functionality, sustainability and high-level performance.

From big mountain riding to the park and everything in between, the new CANDIDE line is designed to provide the best protection from the elements, a cut that’s modern yet offers full range-of-motion, and the block color styles for which Thovex is known.

“With CANDIDE, we focused on making premium technical products that bring it all back to the essentials, and offering styles that appeal to men and women who love their sport and want outerwear and apparel that will support them in any snow or weather conditions,” said Thovex, co-founder and President, CANDIDE. “It’s been such an honor to bring CANDIDE to life with an amazing team of people, and we’re just getting started.”

Having skied in all kinds of snow and weather conditions across the globe and after multiple years of testing CANDIDE prototypes, Thovex brought his experience directly to the technical design of the brand’s first line for Winter 20/21. The 20/21 CANDIDE Collection includes the C1 Jacket 3L, C1 Pants 3L Bib, C1 Jacket, C1 Pants, the C1 Vision C and C1 Vision S Goggles, the C1 Insulator Hoodie, and the C1 Polar Fleece, as well as accessories, with unisex styles and sizes for both men and women.

True to Thovex’s mission that the mountains should be available for everyone and caring for the natural environment, sustainability is a core tenet of CANDIDE, and the line is crafted with among the latest materials including Bio PET bio-based polyester, PrimaLoft® 100% post-consumer recycled insulation, Polartec® synthetic fleece, organic and recycled polyester, and Global Merino® wool.

As an athlete, his unique vision combined with his creativity and snowboard-inspired moves have continuously set new standards for skiers across the globe, and career highlights include having been the first French rider to win a Gold Medal at the X-Games and taking gold in all three skiing categories: Big Air, Slopestyle, and Superpipe. In 2010, after defying all odds following a major accident, Thovex took first in the world’s top freeskiing competition: The Freeride World Tour.

Thovex has since focused on filmmaking, and has released multiple online video series including Candide Kamera, One of Those Days, and 2018’s Ski the World, for which he won two Golden Lion awards at the Cannes Film Festival.

With years in the making, the CANDIDE Collection is a new chapter, and Thovex has brought together a team of professionals to create something new and different.

“This is Candide’s brand and his vision, and he’s giving it the same intense focus that he puts into everything he does,” said Edouard Dessain-Gelinet, CEO, CANDIDE. “The Collection is designed to be aspirational and reflect the freedom, creativity and exhilaration that come from pushing ourselves.”

The Winter 20/21 CANDIDE line is available at https://candide.co and at the CANDIDE Store in La Clusaz, and the brand will be partnering with select retailers across the globe.
