Leaders in Motorcycle Communication Systems Bring Technology To The Slopes

Boulder, CO (October 2021) – Cardo Systems, the global leader in state-of-the-art Dynamic Mesh Communication motorcycle communication devices, has announced that its new Packtalk Ski product line is available for sale ahead of the 2021-22 winter season, giving skiers and snowboarders a revolutionary new way to communicate on the slopes and in the backcountry this winter.

Founded in Israel in 2003 as one of the pioneers in creating Bluetooth headpieces for early cell phones, Cardo Systems is now the leader in the field of developing communication devices for motorcycle riders, offering a variety of wireless products that allow up to 15 riders to communicate safely up to a distance of one mile between each user . Cardo Systems’ products also offer up to 13 hours of battery life and allows riders to listen to music streamed from their smartphone or FM radio. The Bluetooth connection to the phone allows users to listen to music and answer / make calls, all while keeping the phone safe in their pockets.

Now Cardo Systems is bringing their celebrated technology to the Packtalk Ski, which uses the company’s Dynamic Mesh Communication (DMC™) technology to allow skiers and snowboarders to communicate with up to 15 people via a crystal-clear, always-on, flexible group intercom system. The Packtalk Ski device easily attaches to a skier or snowboarder’s helmet and is water and snow proof, with a battery life of up to eight hours in cold conditions (continuously operated at -20 °C and below). The Packtalk Ski also works up to 1 km (.62 miles) between each unit in direct line of sight, giving you the freedom to change positions without losing connection to other group members.

The Packtalk Ski has already received rave reviews from Gear Patrol, The Inertia, Sport Eco and Men’s Journal, which called the new product “one of those devices that once you’ve tried it, you don’t know how you ever skied or snowboarded without it.”

“The main purpose in all of this is to go skiing or snowboarding, but we’re adding an element that was never available and allows people to share the experience in real-time,” said Cardo Systems Director Bobby Ali. “These are individual sports, but they always end up being social events with our friends. We’re thrilled to use the technology we’ve been developing for years to provide a solution for people who have been stuck waiting to share their experiences while they were on the lift. Those limitations are gone. Now you can have those conversations in real-time.”

Cardo Systems also announced that it has named Boulder-based Meteorite PR as its public relations firm of record and it moves into the winter sports space.  Meteorite PR was founded in 2017 by PR industry veteran Eric Henderson and represents a broad collection of clients including award-winning multimedia company Teton Gravity Research, high-performance helmet and eyewear leader Sweet Protection and Rab Equipment, the industry standard for alpine climbing apparel and technical gear.

“As previous ski guides and instructors and now parents, we feel the Cardo Packtalk Ski is an excellent addition to communication on the slopes and in the backcountry, and it’s a perfect addition to the Meteorite Winter family of clients,“ Henderson said. “Cardo Systems has been a leader in its field for nearly two decades, and we look forward to sharing their technology with all of our personal connections and media partners in the outdoor space.”
