November 4, 2016

PR firm highlighted by state business advisory service for growth & success

Asheville, NC – November 4, 2016 – Darby Communications, an Asheville-based public relations firm representing leaders within the outdoor, wellness and fitness industries, is proud to be featured in the North Carolina Small Business and Technology Development Center’s annual report. Darby Communications was one of only ten businesses within the state to be highlighted by the SBTDC as Client Success stories for the 2015-16 year. Darby Communications was recognized for its growth, both in revenue and hiring, since partnering with the SBTDC.

The SBTDC, which works in conjunction with the U.S. Small Business Administration, has teamed up with more than 130,000 small and mid-sized businesses in North Carolina since 1984, providing them with free personalized management counseling to help them improve financial performance, access new capital, strengthen management and develop more successful business strategies. Darby Communications began working with a business coach from SBTDC in 2014, with a focus on team messaging, cash flow analysis and budgeting, and creating a streamlined organizational chart. Within a year of leveraging the SBTDC’s services, Darby Communications grew by two new full-time employees and fine-tuned an additional service for clients.

“Last year, our SBTDC counselors worked with more than 4,600 clients,” said Jamie Forbes, SBTDC Communication Specialist. “Of those, we chose one from each of our 10 Regional Centers who exemplify success meeting entrepreneurial challenges and growing their companies.  Darby Communications was featured because of the dramatic improvements they made after working with their counselor to understand their financials and make more informed decisions.”

The SBTDC’s annual report is shared with North Carolina’s senators and congressmen, as well as members of the University of North Carolina General Administration, each university’s business school dean and Small Business Development Centers nationwide.
