June 9, 2022

New camping, backpacking and water sports equipment combines innovation, performance and value to equip your next outdoor adventure

SAN FRANCISCO (June 9, 2022)/OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Decathlon, the French sporting goods manufacturer founded in 1976 known for innovative equipment that makes the outdoors more accessible to everyone, announces the launch of new mountain and water-specific equipment for summer adventures. The new Quechua 2 Second Easy three-person tent, Forclaz MT900 Ultralight Backpack, Itiwit Inflatable Compact SUP and Subea Easybreath 900 Snorkeling Mask incorporate cutting edge innovation to provide users with a great experience in the mountains and on the water.

“At Decathlon, our teams around the globe are continually innovating new concepts to bring intuitive and well-designed products to our community so that they can access adventure easier than ever,” says Christian Ollier, CEO of Decathlon USA. “With our mountain headquarters located in the Mont Blanc Valley and a water sports facility in Hendaye on the Basque coast, we are perfectly positioned to design, test and refine to create smartly designed products that deliver on performance and value. Our goal at Decathlon is to make sports and the outdoors accessible for everyone.”

The Mountain Collection Grows

Building off of the success of the original 2 Second Easy tent, which debuted in 2020, the new 2 Second Easy three-person tent (MSRP $299) brings expanded sizing to the collection. The patented design features a pull cord at either end and a push-button release for easy setup and breakdown. To block sunlight and reduce internal heat, Decathlon utilized its patented Fresh & Black material in the body of the tent and incorporated a built-in rain fly for protection from the elements.

In order to reduce the environmental footprint, Decathlon employed dope-dying to color the fabric, which reduces the amount of water required in the dyeing process. Additionally, the frame of the tent is fully repairable for a longer life in the field.

For those setting out on the trail, Decathlon’s all new Forclaz MT900 Ultralight Backpack blends lightweight materials with trail-specific features for a versatile multi-day pack. Weighing under three pounds, the MT900 Ultralight Backpack is available in both a unisex 50-liter (MSRP $179) and women’s 45-liter (MSRP $179) size and features an adjustable, ventilated back panel for a custom fit that promotes cooling.

To stay organized on the trail, the pack features seven pockets, including a full-length zipper along the front of the pack for unrestricted access to the main compartment, as well as a front overflow pocket, two side pockets that can be accessed while walking, and trekking pole rigging points. Contents inside the pack are protected from the weather with an included rain cover and durable materials including a reinforced base.

The backpack features a 10-year warranty and is ecodesigned, reducing CO2 consumption by over 25% compared to the previous models of the backpack. Sustainable concepts in the pack include a dope-dyed rain cover, recycled materials for the zippers, replaceable nylon cord for the inner pocket and an upgraded carrying system that is designed for comfort, but requires less foam.

Access to Water Sports is Easier Than Ever

For easier access to the water, Decathlon’s latest innovation in stand up paddling includes three models of the inflatable Itiwit Compact SUP. Available in small (MSRP $349), medium (MSRP $399) and large (MSRP $499) sizes for various weight ranges, the Compact SUP can be easily transported in the included 30-liter backpack. To make the board compact, Decathlon utilized removable fins and a proprietary drop-stitch technology — which requires less material than conventional methods — to reduce bulk without sacrificing strength.

Going hand-in-hand with minimal sizing when deflated, the Compact SUP’s weigh just 13 pounds, 15.5 pounds and 17.5 pounds, respectively. Additional features include an improved, patented valve for easier inflation, a foam traction pad for superior grip, two elastic paracord tie-downs for rigging gear, an ultralight ankle leash and an offset handle for easy carrying while inflated.

Additional stand up paddle accessories such as Decathlon’s new 5-piece Collapsible Compact Stand Up Paddle (MSRP $59), and various models of stand up paddle pumps help customize your kit.

In 2014, Decathlon launched the world’s first full-face snorkeling mask called the Easybreath Mask, which allowed users to breathe as easily under the water as they can above water. The Easybreath 900 Full Face Snorkeling Mask(MSRP $59.99) is the latest iteration, an evolution that improves performance and decreases the environmental impact over previous models by using 29% recycled plastic.

This new design provides the wearer with a 180-degree field of view, an air circulation system that prevents fogging inside the mask, and a soft nosepiece to allow you to equalize the ears and dive to a depth of 9 feet, 10 inches.

Making sports more accessible to everyone is at the heart of Decathlon’s mission. This means innovative gear that makes enjoying sports and the outdoors easier and more affordable than ever before.
