Deuter USA hires industry veteran Jonathan Degenhardt to lead marketing for Deuter and Ortovox

June 6, 2019

Sales, operations and marketing experience make Degenhardt a triple threat

LONGMONT, Colorado – Deuter USA is pleased to announce the addition of Jonathan Degenhardt, who assumes leadership of the marketing teams of German heritage backpack brand Deuter and backcountry safety pioneer Ortovox in the U.S. market.

Degenhardt’s career in the outdoor industry spans years of specialty retail experience and leadership duties for top brands including Scarpa and, most recently, La Sportiva. In the role of Senior Marketing Manager, Degenhardt will bring experience in sales and operations in addition to his strategic marketing background to Deuter USA.

“Deuter is a respected heritage brand known for craftsmanship and innovative designs, so I’m looking forward to telling those stories to the outdoor recreation consumer,” said Degenhardt. “ORTOVOX is known as a worldwide leader in snow safety products and has helped define technical wool outerwear. Both brands are trusted and known for quality, and I can’t wait to add to the momentum those teams have achieved. I’ve also known the sales leadership of those brands for many years and look forward to aligning our efforts to do great things.”

Offering premium packs since 1898, Deuter is a pillar of the international outdoor industry and founding member of the European Outdoor Conservation Association. Ortovox was founded on groundbreaking transceiver technology in 1980, and among the first to embrace merino wool mountain wear in 1995.

“We couldn’t be happier to have Jonathan on board at Deuter USA,” said Deuter President, Bill Hartrampf. “He’s the complete package, and he’s just the person to carry forward the progress we’ve made here on the marketing front in the last several years.”
