Dynafit Wins Awards For New Tigard 130 Ski Boot
September 15, 2023
Outside and Backcountry Magazine Grant Editor’s Choice Honors
BOULDER, CO (Sept. 15, 2023) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Dynafit, a global leader and innovator in backcountry skiing, will head into the upcoming 2023-24 winter season celebrating a pair of accolades for its new Tigard 130 Boot, which has picked up Editor’s Choice awards from both Outside and Backcountry Magazine.
The new Tigard 130 boot is Dynafit’s latest high-end Alpine Touring boot and supports descent-oriented athletes to be both the first ones up the mountain and the first ones down. The Tigard is the lightest model of its class on the market today and boasts extraordinary freedom of movement.
The Tigard features the patented Hoji Lock System that merges the cuff and shell on the inside of the boot into one completely interlocking unit without any play, and the Power Strap and four micro-adjustable buckles hold the foot snugly in place. The ski-walk mechanism is connected by a technically clever cable system that combines the uppermost buckle and the Power Strap, and with just one hand motion, you can transition between uphill and downhill.
Outside included the Tigard 130 among its “Best Hybrid Resort/Backcountry Ski Boots of 2024,” and dubbed the boot “the most impressive hybrid boot we’ve ever tried.”
“In a category defined by compromise, this model seems to operate in a different plane of reality,” Outside’s gear testers wrote. “The Tigard 130 is the hardest-skiing boot with a walk mode we’ve ever had the pleasure of stepping into; it’s also the best walking boot we’ve ever been able to put into an alpine binding.”
Backcountry Magazine praised the Tigard’s new four-buckle offering as well as the boot’s “stiff but even forward flex and a powerful lateral flex to handle anything over 105 millimeters wide.”
“Big mountain lines and a true one-boot wonder,” Backcountry Magazine’s gear testers wrote. “If you refuse to ski a boot that will be limited in certain conditions, this is your boot.”
“We are thrilled about these new awards for the Tigard 130 from the teams at Outside and Backcountry Magazine. This new boot is the result of the vision, hard work, and dedication of so many people at Dynafit, and we think the result speaks for itself,” said Drew Saunders, General Manager at Dynafit’s parent company, Oberalp North America.
The awards from Outside and Backcountry Magazine are just the latest accolades for the Tigard 130, which was dubbed “Dynafit’s burliest boot yet” by Powder Magazine earlier this year.
“With the Tigard, Dynafit absolutely nailed the elusive 50/50 crossover category,” Powder’s reviewers wrote. “This is a boot that walks well and skis even better.”
