Eldora Mountain Ski Club (EMSC) Welcomes Elite Para Alpine Racers for FIS Ski Competition

National and International Adaptive Athletes Compete in High-Stakes Alpine Races

Eldora, CO. (March 12, 2024) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/  – Eldora Mountain Resort and Eldora Mountain Ski Club (EMSC) are set to welcome some of the world’s top adaptive ski racers for a series of FIS-level Para Alpine Giant Slalom and Slalom races. This unique event will feature national and international development athletes, competitors on the verge of making national and Paralympic teams, and several current U.S. national team athletes.

The competition will take place March 12–14 on La Belle trail at Eldora Mountain, with races beginning daily at 9:30 AM. Open to any skier with an adaptive license, these races are a key stepping stone for athletes aiming for elite competition. These races provide a vital platform for adaptive athletes to develop and refine their skills at the highest level.

“The U.S. Para alpine competition clubs and I are thrilled that Eldora Mountain and the Eldora Mountain Ski & Snowboard Club offered to host these FIS Para Alpine slalom and giant slalom races,” said Erik Leirfallom, U.S. Ski & Snowboard Para Sport Director. “This event brings awareness to Para sports along the Front Range and gives the local community the opportunity to see and take part in their own backyard. We hope this could become a yearly event to help expand our race series.”

Volunteers are essential to making this event a success. Opportunities are available for course crew, timing, assistant start referees, and more. Those interested in volunteering should email trish@lertprograms.com for more information.

Spectators and media members are welcome to attend. The venue is not accessible by foot, so attendees should have skis or snowboard and a valid ticket or pass to Eldora Mountain.
