Desert performance brand signs on to the unified movement to eradicate single-use plastics from the outdoor industry

Henderson, Nev. – Dec. 8, 2021  /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Erem is proud to announce that it has joined the Plastic Impact Alliance—a grassroots commitment to eradicate single-use plastic from the outdoor industry.

“Since our inception, Erem has focused on being the most sustainable brand in the outdoor industry in how we source and build our performance desert hiking boots. Joining the Plastic Impact Alliance is a natural step for our company towards this goal,” said Noah Swartz, co-founder and CEO of Erem.

“We are so excited to have Erem join the Plastic Impact Alliance, bringing more force and traction to this imperative shift in our businesses, at Outdoor Retailer, and all of our industry gatherings,” said Kristin Hostetter, editorial director of Outdoor Business Journal and co-founder of the Plastic Impact Alliance. “Our industry is passionate and leading the charge in sustainability and climate change. Eradicating single-use plastic from our businesses and events is one of the most basic and impactful things we can do on these fronts.”

Plastic pollution is a growing environmental problem, and the outdoor industry has the power to have a huge collective impact. The Plastic Impact Alliance unifies sustainability-forward brands, retailers, and companies to create a more authentic and sustainable industry.

The Plastic Impact Alliance counts more than 420 outdoor companies as members. The Alliance has helped raise plastic awareness at Outdoor Retailer and supported more than 200 in-booth water stations. In October 2021, the Alliance launched a polybag recycling pilot program in Boulder, Colorado, in partnership with 10 local retailers and Eco-Cycle. And new for 2022, the Alliance will begin a campaign to help its members find alternatives for the soft-film pallet wrap so prevalent at Outdoor Retailer.

The Plastic Impact Alliance is a collaborative effort open to all organizations who commit to doing their part. There is no cost to join. For more information, potential members should click here to submit a form, then send an email to plasticimpactalliance@gmail.com with their company logo.
