Granite Gear Continues to Design Urban-Outdoor Backpacks

Two Harbors, MN – Coming into its third year, the Campus Collection by Granite Gear continues to demonstrate the load-carrying expertise that has been the brand’s strength for almost 30 years, while also adding in modern design and necessities. In Spring 2016, the collection will expand to include nine new backpacks, totaling 24, that are aimed to appeal to urbanites, bike commuters, weekend travelers and modern students.

“We have a passion to design and develop urban-outdoor backpacks that are guaranteed to last for a lifetime,” said Senior Director of Design & Development Michael Meyer. “Some of the new packs in the collection have unique attributes that serve those looking for a multiple-use pack that is loaded with function and modern style.”

New in the collection is the Rift Series backpacks. With a unique tear-open zipper system, the packs offer quick main-compartment access for wearers. The packs were designed for those who are rough on gear, and are made of tarpaulin material, which is burly and super water and abrasion-resistant. They also serve the electronic-savvy user with a padded laptop sleeve, which doubles as a hydration sleeve, a dedicated tablet sleeve, and a BARRIER tricot-lined pocket for cameras, cell phones or sunglasses. For ultimate comfort, the packs have high density EVA foam shoulder straps and compression molded back panel. MSRP: $79-$99.

Other new packs in the collection include:  the Brule, with an arched lid for added protection and security; the Verendrye, with an alternative top loading main compartment with zippered lid; and the Fulton, with an angled main opening for more spacious access. The entire Campus collection packs vary in features, including: load-bearing waist belts, BARRIER water-repellence on packs and select zippers, abrasion and extreme water resistant tarpaulite fabric to protect gear from the elements, Gear-Tec technology protection to keep laptops, tablets, and electronics safe and secure, high-density foam padded shoulder straps, fully padded back panels with lumbar support and adjustable compression straps, and much more. All Campus packs are available in various color ways and range from $39.99 – $99.99.

The nine new additions to the Campus collection will debut at the Winter Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City, January 7^th – 10^th at the Granite Gear booth #4037 and will hit retail stores in May 2016.
