Hyperlite Mountain Gear Launches Technical, Ultralight Daypack

December 1, 2015

The Daybreak: an optimized, high-performance day backpack built of waterproof, rip-stop Dyneema® Cuben Fiber

Hyperlite Mountain Gear just released its first high-tech daypack made of its signature waterproof and rip-stop Dyneema® Cuben Fiber fabric. The Daybreak weighs just 1 lb. 3oz. and holds 17 liters and comes in three torso sizes (for optimized fit and comfort).

“This isn’t your one-size-fits-all book bag,” stated Hyperlite Mountain Gear CEO Mike St. Pierre. “We’re offering the Daybreak in small, medium and large so you can optimize the fit of your hip belt and shoulder straps. We designed this day backpack for adventurers at heart who don’t have time to do multi-day trips, but who still want the characteristic fit, durability, water resistance and light weight our company’s products are known for.”

Though minimal in design, the Daybreak is more fully featured than Hyperlite Mountain Gear’s standard 1800L bags, and includes side pockets for water bottles, a removable ice axe attachment point and a back pocket with additional bungees to easily access rain gear or snacks.

“Ultralight techniques don’t just mean carrying minimal weight on thru hikes or long backpack adventures,” St. Pierre said. “Going light is equally important for speed and efficiency while hiking technically challenging trails in sub-24 hours.”

According to BackpackingLight.com founder and Hyperlite Mountain Gear Trail Ambassador Alan Dixon, “The Daybreak is a near ideal pack for that sort of day-climbing, or peak bagging and scrambling, or for a long canyoneering day-hike. It beats the other packs I have used.”
