February 8, 2019

GORE-TEX dry suit sets a new standard in safety and comfort for sea kayakers

ARCATA, California — One of the seminal moments in the 48-year history of Kokatat came in 1988 when the first GORE-TEX dry suit for paddling was introduced. Now, some 30 years later, Kokatat, firmly established as the leading manufacturer of high-performance paddling outerwear, has revolutionized the world of paddling dry suits again.

For 2019 comes the pinnacle dry suit designed specifically for devoted sea kayakers: Kokatat’s new Odyssey GORE-TEX Dry Suit. The Odyssey bumps innovation to the highest level yet, combining every required safety feature with unparalleled comfort and ease of use. The Odyssey is destined to become highly coveted by anybody who spends serious touring time on the water.

Constructed of GORE-TEX Pro fabric with 330 Cordura® GORE-TEX Pro reinforcement in the pant, seat and knees, the Odyssey features nylon waterproof front entry and relief zippers, removable suspenders and reflective accents on the arms and hood. The suit also has a newly designed removable, two-way adjustable hood with integrated neoprene and a mesh chin panel that offers superior protection when needed. There’s a comfortable pile lined stand-up collar that protects the natural latex neck gasket as well. The women’s drop seat zipper placement has been adjusted for added comfort and improved fit. The Odyssey, made in Arcata, California, comes in two stock colors for men and women and is fully customizable in both sizing and color. Price is $1,290.

The Odyssey joins the award-winning line of dry suits from Kokatat including the Meridian, Icon, Idol and Radius. The new Odyssey will be available at select retailers and online in February.

About Kokatat Inc.

Kokatat has been manufacturing paddling gear in Arcata, California almost 50 years. At a time when many technical apparel brands were moving manufacturing offshore, Kokatat continued to invest in infrastructure in the United States. Kokatat founder Steve O’Meara was committed to the development of the finest and driest paddling apparel in the world and recognized the need to control and continually evolve the development of our dry wear. In the early days, Kokatat worked closely with W.L. Gore & Associates, makers of GORE-TEX®, to refine the sewing and sealing techniques required for full immersion suits and tops. Today, our hands-on approach to manufacturing continues to set the standard in paddling apparel. Into the water with Kokatat! Learn more at www.kokatat.com.
