Moultrie Mobile Extends Cellular Trail Camera Leadership

July 22, 2019

Trail cam pioneer updates mobile functionality and introduces four new products

BIRMINGHAM, AL, July 22, 2019 — Moultrie Products is proud to announce a number of major advancements to Moultrie Mobile, its cellular trail camera system. In addition to successfully transitioning to Verizon’s 4G network, Moultrie Mobile has entered into a partnership with AT&T, giving the system broad coverage across the US. Moultrie Mobile is now shipping four new products – two new cellular Cameras and two new Field Modems, one each for the AT&T and Verizon networks. To sweeten the pot, Moultrie is offering a $50 mail-in rebate on 4G cameras and a $20 rebate on 4G modems. The extremely affordable price points promise to help many new users make the move to cellular trail cameras.

“There is no doubt, this is the year of the cellular trail camera,” says Brian Malone, Director of Brand Management for PRADCO Outdoor Brands. “Each year, we hear more customers telling us that after trying a cellular trail camera, they will never go back. Hunters are realizing how much time they save by not going to the field to pull memory cards. Cellular has grown every year since Moultrie introduced the first cellular trail camera back in 2007, but growth is getting faster and faster. Cellular-camera costs are dropping and monthly costs are lower than people expect. With the transition to 4G behind us, the excitement from hunters is incredible.”

With the fast-paced world of cellular technology, there is a bit of a learning curve for the industry and consumers both.  “The industry and consumers should think about cellular trail cameras differently,” Malone continued. “There are new features and specifications with cellular that have previously not been a factor. Anyone can make a cellular camera cheap or small, but features like battery life and reliable connectivity are far more important.”

Moultrie Mobile Launches Four New Products

Moultrie Mobile is proud to introduce two new cellular trail cameras and two new cellular modems for 2019. The all-new XV-7000i and XA-7000i cellular trail cameras connect to the Verizon 4G and AT&T 4G networks, respectively. These cameras let you access game-camera images and control camera settings directly from your smartphone, tablet or computer. Each trail camera features 20-megapixel images, invisible no-glow flash, 80-foot detection and flash range, an Illumi-Night2sensor for crisp and clear night images, blazing .3 second trigger speeds, and record 1080p video. MSRP: $179.99.

Moultrie Mobile is also proud to release the latest generation of its popular cellular Field Modem. The MV2 and MA2 Cellular Field Modems run on Verizon and AT&T, respectively. Field Modems are an accessory which converts a traditional camera into a fully-featured, cellular system. This allows owners of non-cellular Moultrie cameras to go wireless and also maintain the flexibility to upgrade their Moultrie camera at any time. A modem mounts to the same tree as the trail camera and connects to the camera via a steel-braided USB cable. The new Field Modems are compatible with most Moultrie game cameras built since 2015. MSRP: $119.99

All four of the new Moultrie Mobile products set a new industry standard for hardware design and engineering. As Malone explains, “Many cellular cameras use external antennas because they are cheaper. But external antennas can be broken easily. Moultrie opted for a custom, internal antenna because it will last longer and, in our testing, the custom solution offered better wireless performance.” Additionally, all 2019 Moultrie Mobile products will include a feature that very few other trail cameras offer: the ability to update firmware “over the air.” This means that users can keep their systems updated without having to go to the woods to perform updates manually.

Moultrie Mobile Completes Move to Verizon and AT&T 4G Networks

Moultrie Mobile has enjoyed a long-running, successful relationship with Verizon and recently transitioned successfully to the Verizon 4G network. In order to give customers options for all areas of the country, Moultrie Mobile has now entered into a direct partnership with AT&T! All new Moultrie Mobile products – either on the Verizon or AT&T network – are fully compliant with carrier requirements.

It is important that retailers and consumers understand the relationship between trail camera manufacturers and cellular carriers. This has implications for the long-term reliability and stability of cellular systems. “Everything we sell is 100-percent certified by the cellular carriers,” explains Malone. “That certification process is expensive and takes time, but it ensures that we have the full support of AT&T and Verizon. This guarantees that when the carrier makes a change to the network, those cameras don’t suddenly stop working.”

Moultrie Mobile’s original MV1 modems operate on the Verizon’s 3G network, which Verizon has chosen to decommission and shut down through a process called “sunsetting.” These MV1 modems will continue to work on Verizon’s 3G network at least through December 31, 2019. Moultrie Mobile is offering all current MV1 users an opportunity to upgrade to a new 4G modem for only $20 (savings of $100). (Details: https://www.moultriefeeders.com/3g-sunsetting)

Moultrie Mobile data plans were designed for convenience and affordability. Monthly plans start at $4.99, and you can start and stop your subscription at any time. There are no contracts, no activation fees, and no cancelation fees. While other brands don’t allow you to access all of your images unless you pay for an expensive plan, Moultrie Mobile offers free and complete access to all of your photos, even without an active subscription.

 Superior Mobile App

What good is a huge collection of trail camera photos if you can’t find the ones that matter? The brilliance of cellular trail cameras is not just remote access and image retrieval. It is also about using software features to help manage your photo collection and develop insights that help you hunt more successfully. Since its introduction, Moultrie Mobile has set the standard for app design, making advanced features like filtering, sorting, tagging, and sharing extremely easy and intuitive.

In 2019 Moultrie Mobile delivers another trail camera breakthrough with the introduction of image-recognition software, automating the process of finding the images that matter most. The system recognizes bucks, does, turkey, person, and vehicles, and then applies appropriate “Smart Tags.” These SmartTags can be used to sort, filter, and set alerts. Additional Smart Tags are being added all the time. Thanks to advanced machine-learning technology and a feature which allows users to report errors, the accuracy of the image recognition system is constantly improving. The Moultrie Mobile team isn’t stopping there and expects to add robust mapping functionality to the app in the near future.

“We haven’t seen excitement like this in several years,” said Shaun McPhail, VP of Sales for PRADCO. “We have increased production capacity twice now in response to orders. We are doing everything we can to support the product, including the biggest marketing push we’ve done in years.”

Moultrie Mobile wants to be sure that everyone has the ability to get in on the cellular-camera craze. That’s why you’ll see generous rebates being offered on all new Moultrie Mobile products. The new 4G Field Modems will cost $99.99 and the 4G Cameras will cost $129.99 after manufacturer’s rebate.

Moultrie Mobile will be supported by a full, omni-channel advertising and promotional campaign throughout the hunting season. This will include prime-time TV advertising on the Outdoor Channel and Sportsman Network, print ads in America’s favorite hunting magazines, and a strong digital presence with our partners at Wired Outdoors, Carbon Media, ScoutLook, Wired to Hunt, and others. Moultrie’s combined social network of over 1.5 million followers will be treated to a flow of fun, engaging, and educational content on today’s most popular platforms.
