Mountain Hardwear Releases Reissue Capsule Paying Homage to It’s 1990’s Roots

October 3, 2023

Taking its most iconic designs and making them new again, Reissue emulates Mountain Hardwear’s throwback style with today’s technology and sustainable fabrics

Richmond, Calif. (Oct. 3, 2023) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/Mountain Hardwear, a leader in performance equipment and apparel for climbers, mountaineers and outdoor athletes, is celebrating its 30-year anniversary by throwing it back to 1993 when the brand’s distinct, functional style was born–introducing the Reissue capsule. Reissue is a limited-edition collection featuring three original pieces: the Exposure™ Gore-tex® Parka, Subzero™ Down Jacket, and Windstopper® Tech Jacket, each reimagined with today’s high performing technology and recycled materials. The Reissue capsule embodies the ethos upon which Mountain Hardwear was founded, and is defined by the designs of Ingrid Harshbarger, which utilize her unmistakable color palette and now-heritage fit that harkens back to the best of the 90’s.

“Ingrid’s iconic design language helped put Mountain Hardwear on the map with her meticulous attention to detail and unique hand-drawn sketches crafted for pushing the boundaries,” said Paxton Madison, Creative Director for Product at Mountain Hardwear. “These original pieces were conceived to be tools for surviving in the harshest conditions, her work really blazed the trail for the rest of the outdoor industry. Reissue serves as a tribute to our early years, styles, and the people that were the foundation of the brand that lives on in today’s line.”

Three original pieces are the inspiration for Mountain Hardwear’s Fall 2023 Reissue capsule:

Exposure™ GORE-TEX® Parka Reissue

The Exposure™ GORE-TEX® Parka was Mountain Hardwear’s first technical, premium mountaineering shell made with guides and world-class climbers in mind. Now using the GORE-TEX® ePE membrane, a lighter and thinner, yet strong material innovation that’s PFC free with a reduced carbon footprint, the brand has taken 30 years of wisdom and made an original style for the modern planet. One hundred percent recycled waterproof, breathable 2-layer GORE-TEX® offers reliable protection and comfort with an eco-safe advantage while the retro color blocking references heritage style. Offered in unisex sizes XS-XL, MSRP: $400.00

Subzero™ Down Jacket Reissue

Mountain Hardwear’s Subzero™ Down Jacket marked the beginning of an era, as the first in the brand’s family of down insulation. All about rugged performance way up high and maximizing that warmth-to-weight ratio mountaineers look for, this mega-warm style now has an even more durable, more premium, recycled exterior than its original. Entirely recycled ultralight Pertex® Y Fuse ripstop shell fabric with DWR finish is water-resistant and packable. Made with 650-fill RDS®-certified down. Offered in unisex sizes XS-XL, MSRP: $350.00

Windstopper® Tech Jacket Reissue

The Windstopper® Tech Fleece was an industry breakthrough in that a warm, soft fleece could actually stop wind from passing through without requiring a hard-shelled outer. GORE-TEX® helped bring the original vision to life in 1993 and now, this classic style is back in a 100-percent recycled fabrication. Offered in unisex sizes XS-XL, MSRP: $275.00
