Mountainsmith Celebrates their Heritage with New Additions to their Vintage ‘Roots Collection’ at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market

July 19, 2018

Golden, CO – Mountainsmith – craftsmen of iconic backcountry equipment and recreational outdoor gear – debuts the Trippin Series as the newest addition to their vintage Roots Collection at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market this month (Booth #: 44080-UL). Featuring the NEW Trippin Pack, Trippin Sling, and Trippin Pouch, and bold new colorways for the Trippin Fanny, this pack series will take you and your gear around the town or around the world in retro-aesthetic style. Products set to hit retailers nationwide in January 2019.

“Piggybacking off the success of the Trippin Fanny that hit the market in 2018, we poured over our historical content library and came away excited to expand on this concept. In 2019, we offer a collection of 70’s and 80’s inspired styles and colors that honor our past while offering our retail partners and customers a fun blast from the past,” says Jay Getzel, Mountainsmith president on the additions to the retro-inspired collection. “The Trippin Series offers something for any consumer looking for a poppy way to travel, hit to the local brewpub or rock out at the next music festival.”

From the start in 1979, Mountainsmith helped shape 80’s pack design, based on the experiences, adventures and lifestyle of legendary outdoorsman and Mountainsmith founder, Patrick Smith.  The ‘Roots Collection’ has epitomized this heritage since 2016, featuring new designs on favored 90’s classics. Today, Mountainsmith introduces bold new colors and retro design with the Trippin Series. Inspired by the same designs and stories of the 80s, this series’ CORDURA® material holds homage to Mountainsmith’s trademark durability, while each style represents Mountainsmith’s influence on backpacks and lumbar packs over the years. The Trippin’ Series celebrates the Mountainsmith heritage, but revamps it for a modern lifestyle.

About Mountainsmith:
In 1979, legendary outdoorsman Patrick Smith founded Mountainsmith on the necessity for durable gear that could withstand the rigors of the Rocky Mountain backcountry. It is here that the original lumbar pack was born and the Mountainsmith brand began its legacy.

Today, Mountainsmith celebrates not only the gear that has led us here, but the stories, adventures, and experiences that define the rugged, Colorado-grown, no B.S. lifestyle we continue to share.  Headquartered at the base of the Rocky Mountains in Golden, CO, we’ve spent the past 40 years balancing hard work and playing hard, combining our passions for backpacking, camping, hiking, photography, travel, our dogs and our families. We are committed to creating durable provisions for every aspect of your adventure, tools that cut the frills and stand the test of time. Like our community, our gear is Forged for Life.
