Mountainsmith Debuts Carbon Fiber Camera Monopod at Summer Market Outdoor Retailer

July 11, 2018

Golden, CO (July 11th)– Mountainsmith – craftsmen of iconic backcountry equipment and recreational outdoor gear – will debut their 2019 Trekking Pole Collection, updated with carbon fiber options, a new aesthetic, and a winter sport-specific design. These products will showcase at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market this month in Denver, CO (Booth #: 44080-UL). From their most-technical camera monopod to-date to Mountainsmith’s signature Outerlock (OLS) Adjustment System, the 2019 Collection offers innovation without the frills, building on Mountainsmith’s commitment to durable, easy-to-use gear. These products will hit retailers nationwide in January 2019.

Jay Getzel, Mountainsmith President, says, “As we continue to push our designs forward, we looked to consumer, athlete, and retailer feedback in the redesign of our camera monopod. With a wider adjustment range and a lighter carbon construction, the Trekker FX Lite is our most advanced camera monopod to-date. With more photographers getting out in the backcountry, the Trekker FX Lite is our solution for keeping camera kits manageable without sacrificing the adventure.”

The Trekker FX Lite highlights Mountainsmith’s ability to deliver innovative, function-first gear for every asset of outdoor adventure – including photography. Part trekking pole, part camera monopod – this pole is built with an upper carbon-fiber arm, giving photographers a lighter carry without sacrificing strength. At the same time, the telescoping sections offer enhanced camera maneuverability.

The adventure into new design continues with an overhauled design of the Glissade 7075. Luke Boldman, Design Lead and Product Line Manager, says, “Celebrating 40 years here in the Rockies, it was about time we brought back the snow-specific Glissade. Redesigned with our easy-to-adjust Outerlock Height Adjustment System and durable 7075 aluminum, the Glissade 7075 is built for skiers, snowboarders and snowshoers at the resorts and into the backcountry. As a Colorado-grown brand, we are excited to continue our growth in the winter sports we all already love.”

About Mountainsmith:
In 1979, legendary outdoorsman Patrick Smith founded Mountainsmith on the necessity for durable gear that could withstand the rigors of the Rocky Mountain backcountry. It is here that the original lumbar pack was born and the Mountainsmith brand began its legacy.

Today, Mountainsmith celebrates not only the gear that has led us here, but the stories, adventures, and experiences that define the rugged, Colorado-grown, no B.S. lifestyle we continue to share.  Headquartered at the base of the Rocky Mountains in Golden, CO, we’ve spent the past 40 years balancing hard work and playing hard, combining our passions for backpacking, camping, hiking, photography, travel, our dogs and our families. We are committed to creating durable provisions for every aspect of your adventure, tools that cut the frills and stand the test of time. Like our community, our gear is Forged for Life.
