Mountainsmith Sponsors The Wounded Walk to Help Those with PTSD

October 15, 2015

(Golden, CO) – Mountainsmith—craftsmen of iconic backcountry equipment and recreational outdoor gear—will be contributing several sets of trekking poles to benefit those participating in The Wounded Walk: Mission New England. This event is a 300-mile trek beginning on November 10th in Portland, ME, and ending in Voluntown, CT to raise awareness of veterans battling Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

The Wounded Walk began with former U.S. Marine Adam Shatarsky’s 3,000-mile, cross-country hiking campaign to raise awareness of veterans battling physical and emotional injuries sustained while serving our country. The Wounded Walk is now an official 501c3 non-profit, dedicated to helping servicemen and women suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. To date, the founders of The Wounded Walk have walked over 4,000 miles to help demonstrate natural methods of coping with PTSD.

“Based on the success of fighting PTSD symptoms in participants of the Warrior Hike (a program similar to The Wounded Walk which Mountainsmith has sponsored for 3 years), we are excited to support another organization aimed at improving the lives of veterans.” Said Jeremy Dodge, Mountainsmith’s Marketing Manager. “The Wounded Walk is bringing much needed attention to PTSD, and Mountainsmith is grateful for opportunities like this to join in on that battle to help veterans live life to the fullest.”

The Wounded Walk Co-Founder Ross Delafield adds, “I’m honored to help my brothers and sisters in arms overcome the many challenges they face when returning to civilian life. Teaming up with Mountainsmith will facilitate The Wounded Walk’s efforts in fighting PTSD.”
