August 9, 2018

New MSR Pro Bivy is the ultimate shelter for professional alpinists

SEATTLE, Wash. (August 9th, 2018) — Since 1969, Seattle-based Mountain Safety Research® (MSR®) has set the standard for creating high-performance outdoor products meant to withstand the harshest conditions of the mountains. New for 2019, MSR introduces the Pro Bivy, the ultimate bivy for professional alpinists on fast and light missions.

“We’re excited to introduce this product because it was designed with professionals, for professionals,” says Terry Breaux, tents and shelters category manager at MSR. “When the success of the expedition and the safety of the professional depends on durable, purpose-engineered gear, this ultralight shelter delivers.”

Designed with direct input from professionals in the field, MSR’s Pro Bivy was engineered to provide ultralight, demanding-weather and quick-pitch protection that allows its users to sleep safely on the mountain ledges and exposed ridgelines of high-altitude alpine environments.

The Ultimate Bivy for Professional Alpinists

Weighing in at just 10 ounces, this ultralight bivy delivers quick-pitch, waterproof protection in cramped spaces too small for a tent without adding much to the user’s pack load.

The Pro Bivy’s floor, featuring 15D ripstop nylon 1200mm Xtreme Shield™ polyurethane & DWR coating provides a reliable, watertight system in challenging conditions. The breathable rainfly fabric helps to reduce condensation in all environments. MSRP: $199.95
