MSR® Signs on as Exclusive Stoves Sponsor for BACKPACKER’s 18th Annual Get Out More Tour

May 1, 2018

SEATTLE, Wash. (May 1, 2018) Mountain Safety Research® (MSR®) is proud to sign on as BACKPACKER magazine’s exclusive stove sponsor for their Get Out More Tour. The nationally-traveling, 75-minute interactive seminars aim to unite readers and outdoor enthusiasts across the nation with trail-tested tips, regional trip advice and outdoor gear.

The Tour will visit 45 outdoor retail shops and 8 music festivals across the nation. Through MSR’s sponsorship, attendees will learn about the wide variety of outdoor products, including MSR stoves. The two stoves that will be included in these seminars are the WindBurner® Stove Systems and the PocketRocket® 2 Mini Stove Kit.

WindBurner Stove Systems are windproof, modular systems, offering ultra-efficient performance with a radiant burner and pressure regulator, maintaining their performance in all conditions. The stove systems are offered as a 1.0L Personal System, a 1.8L Duo System and a 2.5L Group System. New for 2018 is the remote burner featured in the Duo System and Group System, and a 4.5L Stock Pot and a Ceramic Skillet.

The PocketRocket 2 Mini Stove Kit offers big performance in a tiny package. The ultra-compact cook-and-eat kit is ideal for minimalists who are looking for a fast-boiling stove option with pot. At just 9.9 oz., the kit includes the stove, .75 L hard-anodized aluminum pot, 16 oz. bowl, clear lid with straining ports, pot lifter and stuff sack.

“The Get Out More Tour provides outdoor enthusiasts with an overview of recreational gear essentials, including MSR’s newest stoves,” says Scott Youmans, stoves and combustion category manager at MSR. “Equipped with trusted product knowledge from BACKPACKER, attendees will be better prepared for enjoyable experiences outdoors.”

The Tour’s mission is to give people the tools and inspiration to get out more and to live an adventurous life. BACKPACKER’s brand ambassador, Randy Popster will travel the country and share his passion and experience for the outdoors. He will aim to eliminate misconceptions and identify challenges for people, whether they are passionate hikers, backpackers and adventurers or individuals looking to explore the outdoors for the first time.

“I have a genuine passion for the outdoors that started way back as a child,” Propster said. “There were times that I would spend a night in a tent before I even realized that it was camping. Sharing your passion with thousands of consumers across the country is truly a humbling experience, knowing you’re providing information and inspiration that can actually change someone’s life.”

Each Tour stop provides the opportunity to win a huge outdoor gear and apparel giveaway from Tour sponsors. The Tour’s first stop is at the Walkabout Outfitters in Roanoke, VA at 7:00pm EST tonight. Check out the retail and festival tour schedules to see if the Tour will be stopping at a location near you.
