Named a revolution in comfort, Gregory’s new Jade backpack earns prestigious OutDoor Award

June 25, 2018

International design award calls out Gregory’s innovation in backpack suspension technology.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (June 25, 2018) – The all-new Jade 53 from Gregory Packs offers backpackers a “revolution in pack comfort,” according to an independent panel of expert judges who this month awarded it a 2018 OutDoor Industry Award. The award, given out to a handful of products twice a year in association with the international outdoor trade show in Germany, calls out the industry’s most innovative new product designs.

Gregory’s revolution in comfort comes thanks to its new Free Float Suspension System. The system uses free-floating flex panels (located on the lower backpanel, adjacent to the waist belt) that allow the belt to pivot and flex with the natural movement of your body. This, in turn, creates a sensation that the pack is moving and floating as the user walks. The customizable suspension system pairs this proprietary Free Float suspension technology with an open-air, ventilated backpanel, adjustable torso length, and 3D Comfort Cradle hipbelt that conforms to a user’s hips for a hot-spot free carry.

The women’s specific Jade, and it’s men’s specific counterpart, the Gregory Zulu, debuted at the OutDoor trade show June 17-20, where the awards were presented. Award-winning products are displayed in an exhibition area during the trade show. The Jade and Zulu will then debut in North America at the upcoming Outdoor Retailer show in Denver, CO, July 23-26.

Available starting in Spring 2019, the Zulu and Jade are offered in five capacities ranging from 28-to-65-liters.
