No Man’s Land Film Festival 2017 “No Limits” Tour Goes West This Week

March 1, 2017

Slated for momentous growth and leadership in the outdoor industry, No Man’s Land Film Festival is aimed to become an international voice for women in adventure across the globe.

CARBONDALE, CO (March 1, 2017) As the only adventure film festival that exclusively features female athletes, No Man’s Land Film Festival (NMLFF) is kicking off their second year at the forefront of a movement — redefining femininity and highlighting female athletes in outdoor media.

A collaboration of both women and men, NMLFF champions women videographers, artists, and athletes, with grit, spunk, determination, and boundless passion, investing them with the respect, support, and media recognition they deserve.

This year, NMLFF is taking the 2017 “No Limits” tour to upwards of ten states and Canada with the intensified mission to challenge audience members to redefine their definition of femininity. NMLFF is excited to take part in truly collaborative lady-powered events, including Flash Foxy’s Women’s Climbing Festival in Bishop California this March.

“At NMLFF, we aim to champion women of outdoor and adventure sports,” says Aisha Weinhold, NMLFF founder and director. “As a registered 501(c)(3), NMLFF strives to empower and motivate bold, vibrant women who are stepping into the outdoor industry with intrepid spirit and boundless drive to implement change within the outdoor community. Our mission transcends the films presented; this festival acts as a platform for progressive thought and movement in the outdoor industry.”

“We’re psyched to partner with No Man’s Land Film Festival to bring a selection of films about bold female adventurers to the Women’s Climbing Festival,” says Shelma Jung, founder of Flash Foxy Women’s Climbing Festival.

“Outdoor Women’s Alliance is proud to partner with No Man’s Land to bring their film festival to all 7 of our Grassroots Teams this year,” says Laurie Tewksbury, Outdoor Women’s Alliance COO. “Our organizations are a great fit for one another and we’re excited to work closely with Aisha and NMLFF to bring more outdoor women and female adventure filmmakers to the forefront. Together, we have a unique opportunity to both inspire and engage outdoor women at a grassroots level. We hope to turn inspiration from the films into change in the industry and outdoor communities.”

“It’s incredibly important for me, as a creative, to see other women making their own adventures and pushing their boundaries,” says Hilary Oliver, adventure filmmaker. “Whether that’s putting up a first ascent on Baffin Island or shooting their first short film. Seeing female characters on the big screen at No Man’s Land Film Festival motivates me—it reminds me that “Yes, I Can.” And the more of us out there believing, “Yes I Can,” the more awesome women’s stories will be told, and the more amazing adventure we’ll see.”

Additional specialty Programs for 2017 include:

  • Pitchfest — an opportunity for female filmmakers, storytellers and athletes to come together and pitch their film ideas to a panel of judges. The winner(s) will be awarded the monies generated from the Film Fund – a scholarship open to the broader adventure community.
