OluKai Continues POW! WOW! Partnership by Sponsoring Long Beach Art and Culture Festival

July 13, 2017

Orange County, CA (July 13, 2017) ─ OluKai, the premium, Hawaiian-inspired lifestyle brand, is excited to continue its partnership with POW! WOW! as an official footwear sponsor of POW! WOW! Long Beach, a weeklong festival that brings unique art and culture to public spaces. OluKai’s partnership with the organization aligns with the brand’s Anywhere Aloha mission, which celebrates the belief that anyone, no matter where they are, can live the spirit of Aloha.

POW! WOW! brings art and culture to public spaces by beautifying the city while cultivating community pride. Modeled after a weeklong event in Hawai’i, POW! WOW! has grown into a global network of artists and organized gallery shows, lecture series, education in art and music, mural projects, concerts and live art installations across the globe.

From July 16th-22nd, 20 artists will gather with community members in the Long Beach area for gallery exhibits, live art battles, music and panel discussions to commemorate the coastal city’s unique artistic culture. The OluKai Presented Art Battle hosted by Mike Giant will take place from 10am to 8pm at the Varden Hotel in downtown Long Beach on Saturday, July 22nd. The battle is open to local artists and cash prizes will be awarded to winners.

In addition to supporting POW! WOW! Long Beach, OluKai has teamed up with POW! WOW! artists Cory Taum and Vero Rivera to create a unique footwear collection, blending their creative works with OluKai’s high-quality designs. The two artists created their interpretation of the modern Aloha print on canvas and the images were digitized and applied to limited edition shoes. The exclusive OluKai x POW! WOW! collection will be available to preview at the POW! WOW! Long Beach event, where attendees can sign up to join the collection’s waitlist. All POW! WOW! styles will be available online at www.olukai.com beginning August 21st.

“OluKai is proud to partner with POW! WOW! and their mission to support art, music and community in Hawai’i as well as across the world,” said Kerry Konrady, VP Marketing at OluKai. “Working directly with the artist community on shoe collaborations has been especially rewarding and we are excited to unveil our latest collab with Cory and Vero in Long Beach.”

The Ama OluKai Foundation, OluKai’s private, non-profit organization and formal giveback program is also a proud supporter of POW! WOW!. The Foundation partners with committed and progressive organizations interested in the preservation of Hawaiian culture, and honors those who cultivate cultural heritage and the Aloha spirit of Hawai‘i.
