Outdoor Market Alliance Wraps Up First Summer Market Week with Thriving Attendance

July 6, 2022

Regional Market Week Attracts Over 250 Specialty Retail Buyers, Showcasing Over 175 Outdoor and Active Brands

July 6, 2022 – LAKEWOOD, CO/OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Outdoor Market Alliance (OMA), a collective of 25 independent sales and marketing agencies representing over 175 different brands in the outdoor, resort, run and bike markets in the Rockies region, just launched its first Summer Market Week with an impressive showing from retail buyers. Throughout the week, over 250 individual specialty retail buyers visited with OMA’s rep agencies and brands to preview new product, merchandise assortments, and place orders.

Conveniently located in Colorado’s front range, the Summer Market Week proved to be a draw for retailers to do business in a cost-effective and efficient way.

“This first market week underscored exactly what we’re trying to achieve with this alliance,” said Keith Reis, founding board member of OMA. “It’s offering ultimate convenience and efficiency for doing business. This is the busiest time of year for many outdoor retailers and when buying can be done with so many brands and agencies in one place and with minimal travel, our retail partners win.”

The recently formed Outdoor Market Alliance is intent on new ways of doing things. In a classic pandemic pivot, the alliance was created from a need for space, with the founders creating a board and non-profit to ensure that education, inclusivity and succession would be a shared focus. It’s now serving as a regional outdoor industry hub.

Beyond sharing fresh showroom space, resources, knowledge, best practices and access to B2B platforms like NuORDER and Elastic Suite, the OMA supports community initiatives through its non-profit association. Each OMA agency commits time and monetary support to the environment, diversity and inclusivity in the outdoor markets.

“It was amazingly effective,” said Holly Yeary, member of OMA. “Our retailers are really happy with the convenience, the focus on buying, the quality of one-on-one showroom presentations, and the ability to meet with their reps during market week or whenever it works best for their schedules. For us as an agency, there’s so much savings in time, shipping, and storing, and more flexibility as we’re here year-round. It feels like the way forward, and we’re encouraging other industry sectors to utilize this space throughout the year and reap the benefits.”

By the numbers, Summer Market Week reached over 400 attendees over 5 days with over 90 Donuts and 8 gallons of coffee consumed. Elastic Suite provided numerous tutorials of their platform, and Big City Mountaineers was on-site to engage attendees with their mission to provide outdoor access to urban youth.

A Winter Market Week will be held this fall at a date to be announced.

The Outdoor Market Alliance is located at 11111 West 6th Avenue in Lakewood, Colorado. For more information, visit www.outdoormarketalliance.org.
