PAKA Expands Impact in Peru and Announces New Nonprofit in 2024 Impact Report

January 16, 2025

The Peru-based brand proudly publishes its first Impact Report, highlighting achievements and purpose-driven initiatives.

Boulder, CO (January 16, 2025) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ — PAKA, the sustainable apparel brand best known for its performance-based alpaca fiber gear, proudly announces the release of its 2024 Impact Report. This comprehensive report details PAKA’s growing efforts to positively impact communities across its supply chain, from the Andean highlands of Peru to customers worldwide.

PAKA donates 1% of its annual revenue directly to the Peruvian communities where its products originate. The 2024 Impact Report reflects PAKA’s commitment to economic empowerment, cultural preservation, and environmental responsibility. Key highlights include:

  • Investing in 300+ Quechua Weavers: In 2024, PAKA grew from 200 to 300+ employed women artisans, providing stable, equitable incomes. Additionally, PAKA introduced a health program to improve nutrition and well-being for weavers and their families.
  • Expanding Education for Peruvian Women: Through a partnership with nonprofit Peruvian Hearts, PAKA financed university tuition for 17 Peruvian women in 2024 alone, bringing the total number of scholarships to 24. Additionally, the PAKA Entrepreneurial Fund further empowers scholars to start their own businesses and supports local economic growth.
  • Supporting 7,450 Alpaquero Families: PAKA’s supply chain depends on thousands of Peruvian alpaca families–known as Alpaqueros–that live in the rural Andes. The brand is committed to supporting and empowering these community partners. In 2024, PAKA built two greenhouses in Parinas-Puno, providing fresh, nutritious food for local families living in high altitudes.
  • Prioritizing Sustainable Materials: PAKA continues to lead in sustainable fashion, with 64% of its clothing crafted from responsibly sourced Peruvian alpaca fiber, organic cotton, and merino wool—and 100% of products are free of restricted substances and PFAS chemicals.

“Our partners in Peru are the foundation of everything we do,” commented Kris Cody, Founder and CEO of PAKA. “Since founding PAKA on a weaver’s rooftop in 2017, our mission has been the same goal: to bring you closer to the people and animals behind your clothing. We believe real impact starts at the source. As we step into our next chapter, I’m beyond proud to share PAKA’s biggest milestone yet: the creation of our very own nonprofit, the PAKA Foundation. This entity will be tasked with meaningfully and directly allocating 1% of our revenue directly back to the Peruvian communities where all our products are born.”

This year, PAKA also announced the expansion of its Traceable Alpaca program, offering consumers unprecedented transparency into the origins of their apparel and honoring the Andean communities that make its products possible.
