September 9, 2019

Ride Spot app and mobile platform lauded alongside problem-solving projects, products and services designed by Nike, Microsoft, MasterCard and others

BOULDER, Colo. Sept. 9, 2019 – PeopleForBikes’ new Ride Spot program has just received honorable mention recognition in the Mobility category of Fast Company’s prestigious 2019 Innovation by Design competition.

Ride Spot is a new app and website developed by the leading national bike advocacy group that makes it easier for people to discover, enjoy and share great bike rides. The platform includes a suite of free features such as suggested rides, turn-by-turn directions, guidance on equipment and riding techniques, plus helpful information on joining group rides, finding bike shops and supporting local bike advocacy efforts. Following a soft launch last spring, Ride Spot is now rolling out in cities across the U.S.

“We set out to make it easier for people to ride bikes and have fun,” said Eric Lynn, Ride Spot program and product director at PeopleForBikes. “We believe the world is better when more people ride bikes. We’re gratified that Fast Company recognizes the power and potential of our versatile program.”

Ride Spot’s benefits aren’t limited to people who bike and bike businesses looking to cultivate new customers. The program is designed to boost corporate wellness and transportation programs and help tourism bureaus showcase their local trails.

Innovation by Design is a highly regarded competition that honors creative work at the intersection of design, business and tech. More than 4,300 entries were received for 2019 award consideration in 20 categories. Fast Company described this 10th annual competition as the most competitive yet. The magazine’s editors spent a year reviewing applications and ultimately selected only about 11 percent for recognition.

The full group of honorees will be presented in Fast Company’s October 2019 issue (on newsstands and online on September 17). To review the full list of top mobility designs, visit https://www.fastcompany.com/90386276/innovation-by-design-2019-mobility.
