Quiksilver launches “Made Better” collection: better materials and manufacturing for a better future

March 24, 2021

With the use of recycled plastic bottles and new technology, Quiksilver is showcasing its dedication to sustainability and a healthier planet

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (March 2021) — Quiksilver has announced its latest initiative, “Made Better,” as the result of its dedication to finding better ways to make both men’s and women’s apparel. Its debut Men’s collection will showcase the brand’s recent methods of sustainable and eco-friendly manufacturing across the following new product launches.

Quiksilver recognizes its role as a leader in the boardriding community and is committed to sustainable progress on every level. It developed a long-term strategy based on the Sustainable Development Goals put forth by the United Nations. Progress has been made so far, as Quiksilver changed the lives of 245,000,000 plastic bottles and avoided 254,280,089 tons of CO2 emissions using recycled polyester in the majority of Quiksilver’s products.

With 100% of Quiksilver’s boardshorts and 97% of Quiksilver’s mountainwear being made with recycled materials, its continuous journey to create products that make as little impact as possible on the planet will span 10 years. By 2023, Quiksilver is aiming to reduce the impact of sustainably produced boardshorts, wetsuits, outdoor apparel, and items in its Snow and Women’s collections, and to launch an external community-engagement program. By 2026, the brand is aiming to be neutral by making 50% of its revenue via sustainable goods and services and by reducing CO2 emissions by 50%. It plans on rallying its community to shift from participation to commitment and to launch its Mountain & Wave Regeneration Program. Lastly, by 2030, the brand’s goal is to be regenerative. By then, it plans on sustainably producing 100% of goods and services, measuring and sharing the community’s number of actions and its positive impacts, and being climate positive as a result of the Mountain & Wave Regeneration Program.

Its new range, “Made Better,” represents the brand’s ongoing dedication to seeking out ways of manufacturing that are more sustainable and eco-friendly to benefit everyone. It also displays Quiksilver’s continued commitment to the mountains and the sea — the outdoor playground at the very heart of the brand. The ‘Made Better’ collection includes a wide variety of on trend pieces, styles and prints – from hoodies, crewnecks, and fleeces for dawn patrol or chilly evenings to functional boardshorts like the Highlight Arch.
