ROAM Media Announces Partnership With STOKED Organization

January 25, 2021

Companies Pair Up to Promote National Mentorship Month

(BOULDER, CO – JANUARY 2020) – ROAM Media, the Colorado-based start-up committed to quality storytelling and outdoor education, founded by the world’s best adventure athletes, photographers, and filmmakers, announced today that has partnered with national mentorship organization STOKED to support National Mentorship Month in January and support mentoring relationships and encourage more youth through the outdoor and action sports lifestyle.

Founded by a group of elite athletes and creative visionaries that includes Academy Award-winning filmmaker Jimmy Chin, celebrated snowboarders Jeremy Jones and Travis Rice, pioneering climber Sasha Digiulian, big-wave surfer Ian Walsh and acclaimed adventure photographers Chris Burkard and Cory Richards, ROAM Media is committed to inspiring, educating and enabling adventure and purpose.

With offices in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, STOKED is an organization committed to creating a community of fearless leaders through mentoring, opportunity, and action. Founded by celebrated social entrepreneur Steve Larosiliere and longtime action sports host and Emmy-winning journalist Selema Masekela, STOKED empowers disadvantaged youth living in challenged communities through mentorship and action sports such as skateboarding, surfing and snowboarding.

ROAM Media and STOKED will partner to raise awareness of National Mentoring Month, an annual nationwide mentoring campaign dedicated to celebrating and elevating the mentoring movement. ROAM will also provide STOKED with access to its library of online resources, which includes educational courses focused on climbing, fitness, photography, surfing, mountain biking and adventure travel.

“We’re so thrilled to be partnering with ROAM. ROAM has been supporting us for many years and we’re happy to start engaging its audience of outdoor enthusiasts to be mentors and supporters of our organization,”  Larosiliere said. “Our purpose is about using outdoors and action sports to give the kids the skills, relationships, and experiences to transform their life. By giving each of our mentoring relationships access to ROAM’s library of information, we’re not only empowering our kids with more knowledge but connecting them with a larger community of purposeful outdoor enthusiasts.”

“The work Steve and the team at STOKED do is so important. They have worked diligently for 15 years to bring tangible opportunity to underserved communities through mentorship,” said Christopher Jerard, Founder and CEO of ROAM (above). “They have changed lives, one at a time, by empowering kids with knowledge and access. Our mission of Adventure with Purpose is well-aligned with STOKED, and it’s a privilege to be working together on this 1-1 program to create more outdoor access and education for STOKED kids and mentors.”
