Sierra Designs Introduces S19 Tents and Sleeping Bags

June 27, 2018

Brand pushes boundaries of cost-to-weight value with new lineup

(June 27, 2018 – Boulder, CO)Sierra Designs has provided incredible design and functionality at attainable prices for decades, and that remains a top priority as they look ahead to Spring ’19. The brand’s new tents and sleeping bags offer some of the best cost-to-weight value in the industry, without sacrificing technical ingenuity and flat-out game.

“When our team took on the task of assessing the 2019 product line, we kept in mind the two points that make us stand out amongst competitors: weight and pricing,” says David Kauffmann, Associate Product Manager with Sierra Designs. “From revitalizing the High Route tent to hit a sub 2-pound packed weight and shaving 5 ounces off our current quilt offering with the Nitro Quilt, to creating two brand new products that mesh lightweight design with affordability, we find ourselves in a perfect position to offer great gear that’s accessible enough to get everyone outside.”

The Sierra Designs Meteor 4 is a fully freestanding outdoor palace, with 55 ft² of interior space at a packed weight of just 6lbs 1oz. The Meteor’s unique geometry creates steep wall angles for maximum livability, with a fast and easy two-pole setup. Its 2 doors and 2 vestibules allow for easy access and ample gear storage, and the fly can be rolled up for stargazing when the weather allows. The Meteor 4 has one of the best cost-to-weight ratios on the market with an MSRP of $449.95.

Designed as a year-round hiking shelter, the Andrew Skurka-inspired High Route gets an update for 2019 that includes a reduced weight and new colorway. This versatile shelter works as a tarp or tent, with a minimum weight of just 1lb 1oz (fly only) or 1lb 15oz (packed weight). Offset poles and vertical walls make the High Route a roomy one-person option with generous vestibule space for gear. The High Route offers an intuitive pitch and compresses to slightly larger than a Nalgene bottle. MSRP: $299.95

The new Synthesis Mummy takes synthetic sleeping bags to the next level of comfort and performance. This lightweight zippered mummy features synthetic fill that provides lofty warmth even when wet, along with 20d nylon ripstop exterior fabric and a nylon taffeta liner for maximum coziness. Dual zippers create a fold-down comforter for easy temperature control and freedom of movement, while the patented self-sealing foot vent offers quick ventilation from below. The Synthesis weighs just 1lb 6oz (50°) and will be available in three temperature ratings. MSRP: $119.95/50°; $129.95/35°; $139.95/20°

Part blanket, part bag, the new Nitro Quilt brings the best of both worlds together for the ultimate backcountry collision. Taking design cues from the Nitro mummy, the quilt features 800Fill PFC-free DriDown insulation and 15d nylon ripstop fabric for ultralight weight and warmth. The oversized design includes insulated hand/arm pockets to seal out drafts, along with an integrated hideaway hood to keep things warm up top when the temperatures drop. The Nitro Quilt will be available in 35° and 20°, with a minimum weight of 1lb 4oz and 1lb 9oz, respectively. MSRP: $249.95/35°; $279.95/20°

The new tents and sleeping bags will be on display at Summer Outdoor Retailer in Denver at the Exxel Outdoors booth, #42031-UL. For more information, contact suzanne@darbycommunications.com.
