Snowsports Industries America Releases Second Study on the Impact of COVID-19 on Consumers

June 28, 2021

Park City, Utah (June 28, 2021)– Snowsports Industries America (SIA) releases their second of two reports on the impacts of COVID-19 on snowsports consumers “The Impacts of COVID-19 on Snowsports Consumers 2020-2021.” This report studies the changes in behavior of snowsports consumers over the past year due to the COVID-19 situation.

Key takeaways from this report include that snowsports enthusiasts made more purchases than expected in the 2020-21 season – 44% said they bought gear, 58% said they bought apparel and 66% purchased ski area passes. 68% of enthusiasts are also more excited to participate in snowsports next season (2021-22). This is all good news for the winter outdoor industry.

“This report is designed to inform SIA members about changes in snowsports consumers behavior over the last year due to COVID-19, as well as, an initial outlook on the 2021-22 season. COVID spurred a greater level of participation in snowsports than expected. With at least one quarter of enthusiasts participating more than expected in snowsports this past season, we have an opportunity to seize on this momentum going into next year” says Maria McNulty, SIA COO.

This valuable report is free to SIA Premium members and available to all other SIA members at only $150 – click here to login and download. Non-members are able to purchase the report here.
