Sweet Protection Introduces Next Generation Paddlesports Helmets and Apparel at Paddlesports Retailer Trade Show

August 15, 2017

New for 2018 team edition helmets, shorts and merino base layers debut August 29 in Madison, Wisconsin

Trysil, Norway (August 15, 2017) – The Norwegian-based Sweet Protection, designers of cutting edge paddle sports, snow sports, and mountain bike helmets and apparel, will unveil their newest paddling gear at the 2017 Paddlesports Retailer trade show in Madison, Wisconsin later this month. Sweet Protection is expanding their line to include “team edition” versions of the iconic Strutter and Rocker helmets; the new paddle-specific Shazam and Hunter Soft shorts; and the Badlands Merino short sleeve base layer.

“Sweet Protection is the go-to brand for paddle sport enthusiasts and has long been focused on designing and manufacturing products that are safe, dry and comfortable on the water,” said Christian Erga, head of marketing for Sweet. “Our new for 2018 line builds on a strong foundation by introducing hard and softgoods that blend top-tier design with advanced manufacturing techniques to create products that can be trusted on and off the water.”

Sweet Protection’s attention to detail throughout the product development process creates the most popular paddle sports helmets on the market. The Strutter and Rocker – iconic helmets that have become staples in the paddling community – will be available in new “team-edition” colors and graphics starting next spring. Sweet athletes like Marianne Saether and Aniol Serrasolses helped inspire these new colors and graphics, bringing a new level of style to Sweet’s most trusted hardgoods. The Strutter TE ($219), Rocker Half Cut TE ($269) and Rocker Fullface TE ($369) helmets will be available in both the new athlete-inspired and original versions starting in spring 2018.

In the softgoods category, Sweet will be introducing the Shazam ($79) – a new technical paddle-specific short – and the Hunter Soft ($79) short, a technical crossover piece. Sweet protection is known for blending high quality, technical fabrics with precision cutting and sewing to create apparel that is durable and quick drying and the Shazam and Hunter Soft shorts are no exception. The Shazam is a below-the-knee short, designed to be comfortable and maneuverable in all paddling scenarios including SUP. A zip pocket and lace up waist belt give these shorts extra water resistance and a precise fit. The Hunter Soft short is designed with a quick dry fabric that lets paddlers move from the water to the town without having to stop and change.

For base layers, Sweet will be building upon the current Badlands long sleeve top and adding the new Badlands short sleeve option next spring. Made with buttery smooth merino wool, the Badlands adds a little warmth for cooler days and outstanding wicking and odor control for warmer weather. Cut long, the Badlands offers complete coverage in all conditions. With updated colors and style, this top will seamlessly transition from the creek to the pub and beyond. $59

Sweet Protection will be exhibiting at the North America’s biggest paddlesports conference starting on August 29 in Madison, Wisconson.
