Swiss Rock Climber Nina Caprez Joins MSR®’s Roster of Athlete Ambassadors

July 31, 2018

SEATTLE, Wash. (July 31, 2018) — Seattle-based Mountain Safety Research® (MSR®) is proud to announce that Swiss rock climber Nina Caprez has joined MSR’s team of athlete ambassadors. Now hailing from Grenoble, France, Caprez is internationally renowned for holding the first female ascent (FFA) record for a number of impressively challenging climbs. From big wall routes in Patagonia and Kyrgyzstan to boulder trips in Argentina, Caprez is one of the world’s best climbers, and proficient in every discipline of the sport. She has joined forces with MSR to collaborate on events, social impact projects, and new product performance testing.

Caprez joins a team of longtime MSR ambassadors, including professional climber Steph Davis, snowboarder Jeremy Jones, mountaineer Mike Chambers, polar explorer Eric Larsen, mountaineer Mike Libecki and ski mountaineer Hilaree Nelson.

“As an MSR athlete ambassador, Nina will be an integral part of our design process,” says Sarah Courtney, water and snow category manager at MSR. “Her real-world testing of MSR products will complement our own testing – both in the field and in the lab.”

Enchanted by the act of climbing early on, Caprez threw herself into every discipline of the sport—from world championship competitions to alpine peaks, bouldering to sport climbing, and finally multipitch, where she’s achieved some of the hardest routes on the planet. Caprez is driven by her love for overcoming new and intense challenges. She is fascinated by demanding climbing routes where precision counts in every move.

Caprez holds FFA records for the following climbs: Hotel Supramonte, Sardinia, Carnet D’Adresse, Grenoble, Divine Providence, Mont Blanc, El Nino, Yosemite Valley. She’s also conquered the unforgiving Unendliche Geschischte Rätikon, Silbergeier, Switzerland, Ali Baba, Aiglun, the Hannibals Alptraum Rätikon, and Orbayu, Picos de Europa.
