The Pikes Peak APEX Attracts Top Professional Cyclists to Colorado Springs for Inaugural 4-Day Mountain Bike Challenge

Colorado Springs, Colorado — The Pikes Peak APEX presented by RockShox is attracting a strong professional field of racers for the 4-day mountain bike challenge on the slopes of Pikes Peak. The first-year event has attracted professional cyclists from several different disciplines which will create a unique battle between cyclocross, road, track, and mountain bike racers.

The women’s start list includes two Stan’s-Pivot Pro Team pb Maxxis riders who are reigning National Champions—Chloe Woodruff the 2019 Cross-Country Champ and Rose Grant the 2019 Marathon MTB Champion.  Also on the start list is Katie Compton (15-time American Cyclocross National Champion), Caroline Mani (five-time French Cyclocross National Champion), and Evelyn Dong (2019 Cross-Country Nationals runner-up).  Sophia Arreola, who has 36 Mexican National titles under her belt and won two silver medals at the 2013 Track World Championships, will be there representing Team Twenty20.

The men’s field includes reigning XTERRA World Champion, Bradley Weiss, 2016 Junior Road Champion and former WorldTour rider Alexey Vermeulen, and current Marathon MTB Champ Russell Finsterwald from the Clif Pro Team.  Other notable riders include High Cascades 100 winner Stefano Barberi, Giant Factory Team rider Cole Patton, and cyclocross standout Kerry Werner.  RockShox-SRAM Downhill/Enduro pro Mitch Ropelato will add some flavor to the men’s field as he takes on the endurance riders at the APEX.

The APEX will be pushing out video and photo content on their social media channels each day during the event, so be sure to stay tuned to the battle on the slopes of Pikes Peak where the largest mountain bike purse in North America is up for grabs.

The Pikes Peak APEX presented by RockShox inaugural event will be held September 24-27, 2020. This unique event features four days of riding in Colorado Springs, Colorado – Olympic City, USA, including in-town parks and backcountry stages on the slopes of Pikes Peak.
