Thousand Expands Accessories for Urban Riders, Launches Crossbody Handlebar Bag

October 18, 2023

With premium finishes, gender-neutral colors and water-repellent materials, new bag offers performance and style for under $50

Los Angeles (Oct. 18, 2023)/OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Thousand, creators of vintage-inspired helmets and safety accessories, is proud to announce the launch of its first bag designed for commuters – the Crossbody Handlebar Bag. The Los Angeles-based brand enters into this new product category as a part of its ongoing commitment to remove barriers for riders through affordable and innovative urban mobility accessories.

“Understanding riders’ challenges both during and beyond their commute and biking experience is how we inform our unique design process,” said Gloria Hwang, founder, and CEO, Thousand. “Thousand’s philosophy has always hinged on the idea that if we can make safety convenient and seamless, participation will increase in not only ridership, but in safer riding. The construction of our Crossbody Handlebar Bag reflects this, meeting the needs and wants of urban commuters who prefer accessories to elevate their personal style, enhance their ability to travel with ease and increase their safety. We’re thrilled to unveil yet another step in our mission to identify and solve issues for all riders.”

In designing the Crossbody Handlebar Bag, the Thousand product development team researched both on-bike bags and lifestyle-oriented options to determine how to merge both uses and maximize functionality. The result is a dynamic accessory constructed with premium materials that easily transforms from on-bike storage to a on -body carryall. Created with three handlebar anchor points – including one rear anchor strap that was especially designed to prevent unnecessary movement when on the bike – the bag can be quickly converted by disengaging soft-touch buckles and removing the handlebar hardware. Alternatively, while riding, an ergonomically-angled body strap can be stowed in an integrated interior pocket.

Unlike many wearable bags on the market, the water-repellant outer shell and textured-grip front zipper protect users’ belongings in all-weather conditions. The storage capacity is roughly two-liters, allowing space for many of the most common commuting necessities. Additionally, Thousand added a front reflective logo to increase rider visibility and safety.

The Crossbody Handlebar Bag (MSRP $49) is available today on explorethousand.com in two timeless colorways, Stealth Black and Olive. With the addition of its first bag, Thousand’s offerings now include adult and child helmet options, multiple styles of lights, locks, and gloves.

About Thousand

Thousand was founded in 2015 after a friend of CEO, and founder Gloria Hwang passed away from a bicycle accident. The mission behind the sustainable, vintage-inspired helmet brand was to make safety seamless. Hwang wanted riders to have a helmet that could provide safety as well as compliment style. Initiated as a Kickstarter campaign, Thousand raised enough for initial helmet molds in one week. The Los Angeles-based brand has since established itself as the top choice for modern urban cyclists and expanded its product offerings to include adult and child helmet options, innovative lights, locks and multi-functional bags.
