Announces Successful Completion of First Level One Obstacle Coach Training Course

Lausanne, Switzerland, May 18th, 2018: World OCR, the Fédération Internationale de Sports d’Obstacles (FISO), announced today the successful completion of the first stage of its global coach certification program.

World OCR Coach Trainer and 2016 World #1 Ranked Spartan Racer Faye Stenning (CAN) commented that “Work with highly motivated, passionate coaches and trainers from around the world is an important step in building a solid foundation for Obstacle Course Racing internationally. The first Level 1 Coach Certification program hosted by OCR Asia and Pilipinas Obstacle Sports Federation in Manila, Philippines, was a great success. 30 coaches from a dozen countries attended, and to a person, they found the program to be extremely valuable.”

With national federation members in 75 countries, World OCR has the global reach to address youth and athlete development. The World OCR Coach Certification program has been developed using decades of experience from medical professionals, educators, coaches, trainers and world class athletes.

Development Committee Chairman Mr. Stefan Becker (GER) added “Our goal is to provide the highest available quality of education for coaches at every level and maintain their expertise through continuing education. In addition, certified coaches receive monthly advice from experts in the field, including sports medical professionals, world champions and Olympics athletes.”

World OCR President, Mr. Ian Adamson (AUS) said that “The World OCR Development Committee has done an effective job of creating the structure and systems for development globally. They fully understand the importance of ensuring the health and safety of youth and athletes through professional coaches and trainers in a scalable system.”

The Development Committee works closely with the Medical Commission, Master’s Committee and Safe Sport Committee to ensure world class education and safety for obstacle athletes around the world. Additional Level 1 Coach Certification courses are planned for Europe and North America in 2018, and the first Level 2 course will be offered in Asia in November.
