BOULDER, COLO – (March 3, 2023) The 19th annual Boulder International Film Festival (BIFF) is pleased to announce the return of the BIFF Adventure Film Pavilion (AFP) taking place Friday, March 3 through Sunday, March 5 at Grace Commons Church (1820 15th St., Boulder).  Join us to celebrate the most exciting new adventure films of the year!

The 2023 line-up includes nine feature-length films and 17 shorts. A River Out of Time follows a group of activists rafting down the Colorado River to show a glimpse of what the future holds for the water of the American west, with Colorado filmmakers Benjamin Kraushaar and Cody Perry in person. RIDE: A Brutal Fairytale is an adrenaline-fueled, tragedy-laced but inspiring journey of two of the world’s best BMX riders, with film subjects Sam and Alise Willoughby in person to discuss their breathtaking story. PASANG: In the Shadow of Everest, directed by Nancy Svendsen, tells Pasang Lhamu Sherpa’s story of her quest to become the first Nepali woman to summit Mt. Everest.  Producer Christy McGill and Colorado EP Alison Levine (who has summited Mt. Everest) will attend in person – just in time for International Women’s Day.

Shorts with local ties include Annapurna ’78 with director Jim Aikman in person, Reel Rock: Cuddle with director Peter Mortimer in person, and Ignite Your Spirit with producer and director Roo Smith and subject Kevin Wilson of Ignite Adaptive Sports also in person. Four of the feature films will be followed by Call2Action discussions – one on adaptive sports, led by Ignite Adaptive Sports (discussion will follow the 6:00pm screening of RIDE: A Brutal Fairytale, Saturday, March 4th), and two films on animal conservation, with post-film talks led by the Boulder Open Space Conservancy (directly following the 10am screening of Path of the Panther, and after the 2:45pm screening of Coextinction, both on Friday, March 3rd). Call2Action discussions are free and open to the public.

The Adventure Film Party, sponsored by Audi and The Post, will take place Friday, March 3rd, at 9:30pm at Velvet Elk Lounge, and is open to Adventure Film Pavilion ticket stub holders and all BIFF passholders.
