“One of our favorite sayings at deuter is ‘Our packs are built to summit mountains, not landfills,’” says Jonathan Degenhardt, managing director at deuter USA. “We want to build backpacks that will last a lifetime and if it needs to be repaired, we will fix it free of charge. Every season when we launch a new collection of backpacks, I can see this sentiment embedded in the durability of each collection. The new Vertrail 16 ($210) waterproof backpack from deuter is built for mountaineers who accept any speedy mountain challenge and want to ensure safe and dry gear in all conditions. The popular Guide Series is refreshed for Summer 2023 with new materials and features as well as a sleek design that make this pack even more dependable for technical terrain. The new climate-neutral collection is comprised of the Guide 24 / 22 SL ($150) and the Guide 30 / 28 SL ($170), which both feature the alpine backs system to keep the pack fit snug to the back when ascending in any terrain. The new lid design allows quick access to the main compartment and the flexible, removable Delrin® U-shaped frame distributes weight evenly. At 1lb. 14oz., the Guide is a lightweight and easy-to-use pack that offers a comfortable back and cushioned shoulder straps for optimal comfort in the high alpine.

The Trail 18 / 16 SL ($120) and the Trail 24 / 22 SL ($130) feature deuter’s Airstripes back system with less contact surface, allowing a ventilated, body-close weight distribution and compact fit. The flexible Delrin® U-shaped frame distributes weight evenly allowing maximum stability in technical hiking terrain.
