DYNAFIT hits ISPO Gold with the Blacklight Pro Ski

January 22, 2020

ISPO AWARD 2020 – DOUBLE VICTORY FOR THE SKI TOURING BRAND

Mountain endurance brand DYNAFIT scooped two wins at this year’s ISPO Awards, including a Gold Award. The heritage brand, with headquarters in Aschheim near Munich, Germany, secured a Gold Award in the Snowsports/Ski Touring Skis segment – the highest honour in that category – for the Blacklight Pro ski with its new PIN-SKIN System. DYNAFIT then also booked yet another ISPO Award with its new ski touring binding, the Superlight 150, that coordinates perfectly for use with the ultralight Blacklight Pro. With these respected awards DYNAFIT has spectacularly underscored its pioneering role as the driver of innovation for ski touring sport, in addition to setting new standards for the coming winter for fast, lightweight ascents.

With the ISPO Awards, the leading international sports business network, ISPO, each year honours the outstanding products of the sports market. Independent expert panels of judges review and test several hundred entries based on precisely defined criteria. This year, approximately 430 products were examined carefully by 42 judges on the panel. More than 170 were submitted in the Snowsports category alone, where both products from the ski touring specialist, DYNAFIT, earned its awards.

“DYNAFIT is THE driver of innovation in ski touring sport. We may at times be polarizing, we are courageous, we break new ground, because that is the only way you make progress,” declared Benedikt Böhm, international managing director of DYNAFIT. “Speed is a part of our DNA, and we are the ones who first invented the category of Speed Touring. With the Blacklight Pro Ski and the coordinating Superlite 150 binding, we have developed two extraordinary products that allow you to be out on the mountain faster and lighter – be that your local Alpine mountains on demanding terrain, or on far-flung mountains over 6,000 meters all around the world. We are super excited that the ISPO jury sees as much potential in Speed Touring as we do.”

ISPO Gold Award for Blacklight Pro Ski with the innovative PIN-SKIN System

In the Snowsports/Ski Touring skis segment, DYNAFIT’s Blacklight Pro with the PIN-SKIN System was awarded the highly competitive Gold Award which the jury bestows on the best product in a category. The Speed Ski with its premium, black aesthetic was developed especially for professional ski mountaineers and is the lightest model in its class. With a waist of 80 mm and a minimalist 900 grams, it is the best companion for everybody who aims high (and fast).  The Blacklight Pro uses a Paulownia Race Core optimized for weight with an ultralight carbon construction. One highlight of the ski is the attachment for skins. With the new PIN-SKIN System, the skin is no longer attached to the tail or stretched. Rather, it is anchored with a small pin and a corresponding insert directly in the ski. This not only saves time when transitioning, it also ensures a perfect interplay of ski and skin. At the same time it also saves unneeded weight, which is truly essential on demanding terrain.

What the ISPO panel of judges said:

“With the Pin-Skin system you are not only getting a neatly cut skin at the correct length but it is also held in place by an integrated pin so it doesn’t peel off.“ Andreas (Black) Weiss, Marketing Freelancer

Superlite 150 – Award for the versatile speed binding

Yet another ISPO Award was earned by DYNAFIT in the Snowsports/Ski touring bindings segment for its new Superlite 150 touring binding. With its minimalist 150 grams and an adjustable Z (DIN) release value of 4 to 13, the binding made completely of aluminium is a new reference for ascent-oriented ski touring enthusiasts. Inspired by competitive ski mountaineers, the development team focused more on a significant weight reduction during development compared to previous models. At the same time, the binding offers impressively versatile use, as well as superb safety and long-lasting durability. The Z (DIN) release value range of 4 to 13 lends this model unique selling points for the market and transforms the binding into a reliable and safe companion with top power transfer on skis – not only for lightweight ski tourers but also for more aggressive downhillers. In addition to the adjustable lateral release, the front binding release equipped with an interchangeable suspension fork can be set to accommodate the personal needs of ski tourers. This Speed Binding can not only be used without brakes, but can also have ski stoppers and the corresponding adjustment plate mounted. When used without ski brakes, the binding has a heel lift with four heights, while two heights are available for the ascent when used with a brake. Naturally the Superlite 150 is also compatible with ski crampons. As with all DYNAFIT bindings, the Superlite 150 is 100% made in Germany and offers a lifetime warranty.

Two ISPO Awards 2020 for SALEWA

In addition to its ISPO Awards, mountain endurance brand DYNAFIT is also just as excited for SALEWA, another brand belonging to the Oberalp Group. The Bolzano-based brand nailed a coveted ISPO Gold Award with its Mountain Trainer 2 shoe in the Outdoor/Hiking Footwear category. In addition, the Fanes Wool Polartec Women’s Jacket won an ISPO Award in the Outdoor/Hiking Jackets category.
