(BOULDER, Colo.) – For Fall 2019, La Sportiva refines some of the brand’s classic styles, introducing four new footwear models in core categories. In the Mountain Category, the Olympus Mons Cube is lighter than previous models and introduces a new feature to better enable ski approaches. In hiking, the TX Top GTX is built with specific features for long days in the alpine where moving fast is imperative. For mountain runners, La Sportiva takes a popular accessory and integrates in directly into the Blizzard GTX, while the best-selling Kaptiva model incorporates Gore-Tex Invisible Fit for lightweight waterproof breathable protection.

“When core products work well and are accepted as the best they can be, La Sportiva goes back to the drawing board and rethinks them, says Jonathan Lantz, president of La Sportiva North America. “For Fall 2019, the brand took products that customers have been tinkering with  on their own and brought some wild products to market. For big goals in the mountains, these new models offer something for everyone.”

The Olympus Mons Cube has been awarded the 2019 ISPO Gold award and is the latest model in the highly successful line of boots that has become the standard for climbing Mount Everest and other 8,000 meter peaks. For this latest model, the boot loses over 400g per boot in weight while gaining warmth and versatility for glacier and arctic crossings. It also integrates ski boot tech fittings into the toe so that alpine touring skis and bindings can be used on long approaches without bringing a second set of boots. The double boot uses a full Boa closure on the inner boot for an exact fit on the upper and lower parts of the foot. The Vibram Litebase sole and Primaloft Gold Aerogel insulations contributes to weight savings and the boot walks better overall. The Olympus Mons Cube will retail for $1199 in Fall 2019.

Moving fast and light in challenging alpine conditions is a goal of many athletes and now there is footwear that can accommodate those pursuits. Designed with input from La Sportiva athlete Anton Krupicka, the TX Top GTX is a waterproof approach shoe with integrated gaiter designed for human-powered multisport adventures. Built on the TX approach platform for technical performance on rock and scree, but light enough to move fast, the TX Top uses Vibram Megagrip rubber for excellent traction in difficult conditions. At just 17.6 ounces and $199 MSRP, the model will appeal to a wide range of mountain outdoor enthusiasts.

Mountain runners have long used La Sportiva’s A.T. Grip Hobnails in the outsoles of their shoes for excellent traction on snow and ice. Now, those same hobnails are integrated into a new model called the Blizzard GTX. A technical waterproof trail shoe with Gore-Tex Extended Comfort lining and integrated skies, the 13.3 ounce and 6mm drop shoe will retail for $199. Additionally, the new Kaptiva GTX utilizes the Gore-Tex Invisible Fit laminate to provide incredible waterproof breathable protection in a model so that the user does not need to size up. The 9.5 ounce, 6mm drop shoe resembles the best-selling Kaptiva model but in a waterproof version that will retail for $159.
