Leave No Trace Retains Active Lifestyle Agency rygr for Public Relations Services

National organization teaching and inspiring people to enjoy the outdoors responsibly celebrates 25th anniversary with new media relationship

BOULDER, Colo. (Feb. 6, 2019) — The Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, a national organization that protects the outdoors by teaching and inspiring people to enjoy it responsibly, names rygr, an integrated marketing agency for the active lifestyle, its public relations agency of record, effective Feb. 1, 2019. 

“As Leave No Trace celebrates its 25th anniversary, we proudly reflect on three decades of advocacy and education, but even more importantly, we are positioning our organization to remain relevant and continue to positively impact our cherished natural resources for years to come,” says Deputy Director Susy Alkatis. “rygr’s expertise in planning and executing strategic communications campaigns across core outdoor, active lifestyle and mass audiences will allow Leave No Trace to more proactively tell the story of our mission-based work to protect the outdoors by teaching and inspiring people to enjoy it responsibly.”

Founded as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 1994, LNT is active in all 50 U.S. states and more than 30 countries worldwide. Leave No Trace was formed as the result of a collaboration among various outdoor industry and sporting trade associations, the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), nonprofit organizations, outdoor manufacturers, and federal land management agencies. The organization currently reaches over 15 million Americans and dozens of countries each year with conservation initiatives, education, training, research and outreach.

“I remember clearly my first interaction with Leave No Trace when I was a sophomore studying Natural Resource Tourism at Colorado State University and a faculty member handed me a card featuring the organization’s seven principles for responsible outdoor activity. For almost 20 years, I have incorporated the spirit of LNT in all of my professional and personal adventures,” says rygr Principal Brian Holcombe. “As a values-based agency, clear alignment exists not only between rygr and LNT, but also with several of our current clients, including Fjällräven and Primus, both Leave No Trace partners. We are honored by the opportunity to tell the stories of this important organization.”
