June 19, 2017

New products include first kids’ filtered water bottle, adapter kit and multi-faceted filter that reduces lead contamination

LAUSANNE, Switzerland (June 19, 2017) – LifeStraw®, a global leader in developing innovative filtration and purification products for safe drinking water, will significantly expand its product line for fall 2017 introducing LifeStraw Play, the brand’s first filtration bottle designed for kids’, LifeStraw Universal, an adapter kit that fits most popular water bottle brands, and LifeStraw Flex, a versatile multi-use filter meeting National Sanitation Foundation (NSF-53) standards for lead reduction. This product line furthers LifeStraw’s commitment to provide safe drinking water to school children in developing communities.

LifeStraw expects its Follow the Liters program to reach its one millionth child during the next distribution early in 2018. All new products feature LifeStraw’s two-stage filtration system and are on display at booth #40181 at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City, July 26-29. All will be available at www.lifestraw.com and at specialty retailers this fall.

LifeStraw Play ($39.95) is the only two-stage water bottle designed for kids. The 10-oz water bottle incorporates two-stage filtration to remove 99.9999% of bacteria including E. coli, and 99.9% or protozoa including Giardia and Cryptozsporidium. It also improves taste and reduces chlorine. The sturdy leak-proof bottle is easy to clean with components that are dishwasher safe. It is available in five colors and provides safe water at school, during sporting events, on camping trips and at other places where water may be contaminated.

LifeStraw Universal ($34.95) is an adapter kit with two-stage filtration that transforms most popular water bottles into a powerful LifeStraw filter. It includes two screw caps for popular wide and standard mouthed bottles and an interchangeable filter that removes bacteria and protozoa, while improving taste and reducing chlorine.

LifeStraw Flex ($34.95) offers maximum versatility, giving consumers five options for use that are free from bacteria, protozoa and has met NSF 53 testing standards to reduce heavy metals like lead. It may be used: alone as a straw; with the included squeeze bottle; with a generic water bottle or with most hydration bladders. Lastly, it may be used with LifeStraw Mission, a gravity powered water purification bladder ideal for group activities.

“With our next generation of hydration options for everyday activities and emergency situations, we provide consumers with confidence that their water is safe,” said Alison Hill, managing director of LifeStraw. “Our kids’ product relieves parents of having to worry about water quality in situations they can’t control. LifeStraw Universal gives consumers the choice to add water filtration to their favorite gear. More importantly, purchasing one of our products contributes to our greater goal of providing clean water to one million children this year through our Follow the Liters program.”

Through Follow the Liters, more than 1,000 schools have received high-volume LifeStraw water purifiers with over 629,000 school children receiving safe water, making the program one of the largest private investments in safe water in schools globally. In June, LifeStraw was given a Halo Gold Award, North America’s highest honor for corporate responsibility and cause marketing, recognizing businesses and nonprofits for doing well by doing good.  At the ceremony they announced their goal to reach their one millionth child through Follow the Liters during their next installation program in 2018.
