Merrell Launches Bare Access XTR trail runner and “The Running Pastor” film

Alongside the launch of the Merrell Bare Access XTR trail runner, this short docu-style film features Sverri Steinholm, a Faroese trail running pastor, exploring the connection of his spirituality and the outdoors

ROCKFORD, Mich. (June 7, 2019) — “The Running Pastor” featuring Sverri Steinholm follows the Faroese pastor as he shares his experiences living in and serving the Faroe Islands community. As an avid trail runner, Steinholm uses his time on the trails to work through not only his personal conflicts, but the conflicts of others he’s often burdened to bear being the local pastor who must keep everyone’s secrets.

“The Running Pastor” made its debut at Mountainfilm in Telluride, Colorado, which took place May 24-27, 2019.

“The Faroe Islands are breathtakingly unique and provide a picturesque setting for passionate trail runners like Sverri,” says Erika Derylo, Brand Manager for Trail Running and Train at Merrell. “We’re humbled to have had the chance to meet Sverri, share his story, and showcase how the trail provides such a deep value for so many around the world.”

The film features Steinholm running throughout the hills and varied terrain of the Faroe Islands wearing the new Merrell Bare Access XTR trail runners. The Bare Access XTR features 0 heel-to-toe offset, a moderate amount of shock-absorbing foam and a sticky Vibram® outsole for enhanced ground connection and agility on fast runs on light to moderate trails.
