Mountain Hardwear Launches F20 Super/DS Stretchdown Collection

September 15, 2020

Signature Outerwear Line to Include Climb-Inspired Hoody and Lifestyle Additions

Richmond, Calif. (September 15, 2020)– Mountain Hardwear, a leader in performance equipment and apparel for climbers, mountaineers, and athletes, launched their Fall 2020 Super/DS Stretchdown collection earlier this week. Three new styles were added to the signature line including the climb-inspired Men’s and Women’s Stretchdown Hybrid Hoody, along with the Women’s Super/DS Hybrid Jacket and Vest, which offer a more lifestyle driven aesthetic while maintaining technical integrity.

“The Super/DS Stretchdown line represents the best of product development at Mountain Hardwear; prioritizing durability, versatility and a deep commitment to innovative solutions that allow us to maximize a product’s effectiveness.” said Becky Avila, Director of Product Merchandising. “We are excited to include a climb-inspired style, as well as two new women’s lifestyle pieces, creating a cohesive and comprehensive offering for everyone from seasoned professionals to outdoor enthusiasts.”

Mountain Hardwear originally launched Stretchdown in Fall 2016 as a knit before it evolved into a woven version in Fall 2018. The innovative weave, which forms baffles from a single stretch fabric, creates a revolutionary stitch-free construction that enables unrestricted movement and reduces down migration: issues commonly encountered with traditional down styles. By eliminating constricting stitches that often allow heat to escape, along with glues, Stretchdown also increases breathability and flexibility, while reducing cold spots.

Additionally, the Stretchdown technology uses a flexible, abrasion- and tear-resistant material blend that stretches when you move and is densely woven to contain down, block cold from entering, and allow moisture and excess heat to escape.

Insulated with the highest quality goose down insulation, certified by the Responsible Down Standard and sourced from Allied Feather & Down, it not only insulates more efficiently with the lowest bulk, its diligent and environmentally safe cleaning process ensures it lasts longer.

The F20 Super/DS Stretchdown collection in total will feature seven styles including: Men’s and Women’s Super/DS Stretchdown Hooded Jacket, Men’s and Women’s Stretchdown Hybrid Hoody (climbing specific with engineered baffles), Men’s Super/DS Stretchdown Jacket, Men’s Super/DS Climb Shacket, Women’s Super/DS Stretchdown Parka, Women’s Super/DS Hybrid Jacket, and Women’s Super/DS Hybrid Vest.

The Men’s and Women’s Stretchdown Hybrid Hoody (MSRP $300) is a climb-inspired piece utilizing Mountain Hardwear’s proprietary stretch-woven fabrication with 700-fill, RDS-certified down insulation, stitch-free baffle construction, lightweight 60 g/m2 synthetic insulation in the lower body and underarms for increased range of motion, as well as two harness compatible zippered hand and chest pockets and elastic cuffs.

The Women’s Super/DS Hybrid Jacket (MSRP $225) and Vest (MSRP $200) offer a unique blend of the proprietary stretch-woven, stitch-free baffle construction in the body of the garment, with traditional baffling on the hood, lower body and arms of the jacket, creating a fashion forward blend of warmth, stretch and style.
