Mountainsmith Unveils New Cona Line

June 24, 2021

Innovative New Products Combine Essential Features With Unique Design Aesthetic

Boulder, CO (June 2021) – Mountainsmith, the Colorado-based company that has spent more than 40 years as a leading gear manufacturer specializing in durable goods for hiking and camping, today unveiled its new CONA series of backpacks, giving the company a new premium line of packs with crossover aesthetic and features that cater to trail and travel users around the world.

The CONA series is the culmination of nearly two years of design in pursuit of creating a deluxe, versatile backpack that will function equally well on backpacking trips as well as while traveling long distances. CONA packs come in four different sizes – 60, 45, and 25L, as well as a 4L hydration lumbar bag – and will be available in early 2022.

The CONA series marks a breakthrough for Mountainsmith, combining true innovation and a wealth of essential features with a unique design and aesthetic to create a remarkable new entry into the market. The 60, 45 and 25L models offer roll-top entry into a compartment that allows for expandable storage, a water-proof compartment inside to protect electronic gear, a flexible divider inside that allows pass-through access into the main compartment or access to the water-proof compartment, as well as a large U-shaped zippered front panel which allows easy top-to-bottom access. Those new to backpacking as well as experienced hikers will be treated to the same features and comfort that they’re used to in traditional backpacking gear in these sleek, durable designs.

Each bag is made of 420d nylon carbonate ripstop and 840d nylon carbonate JR ballistic and come with comfy EVA shoulder straps that make the CONA 60 and 45 models rugged enough to handle extended travel & technical adventure travel, and the CONA 25 a perfect crossover option for everyday carry to work or school.

“We recognize that since we started making backpacks back in 1979, the needs of hikers, backpackers and outdoor recreationists have changed along with the gear that we carry and where we use it,” said Mountainsmith General Manager Jonathan McFarland. “In designing our CONA series we wanted to address the demands of these modern hikers for highly functional, durable cross-over gear. From travel to trailhead we want to make sure that we are with them every step of their journey.”

The new CONA 4 (right) is a premium, deluxe featured hydration lumbar bag that continues Mountainsmith’s commitment to leading the industry in lumbar products. The CONA 4 can carry up to 10 pounds and is the only lumbar bag on the market that doesn’t actually touch your lumbar for untouched air-flow and breathability.
