Peak Design Takes Second Place in Outside Magazine’s 2018 “Best Places To Work”

November 6, 2018

(San Francisco, CA) — Peak Design, the leader in crowdfunding, essential carrying equipment and camera accessories, is honored to take second place out of a field of 50 finalists in Outside Magazine’s 2018 “Best Places to Work.” 2018 marked Outside’s 11th-year hosting Best Places to Work and Peak Design’s second consecutive year to make the prestigious shortlist.

To be nominated, Peak Design participated in a rigorous two-part survey process administered by the Best Companies Group. Surveys measured the company’s balance of productivity in combination with an active, eco-conscious lifestyle. Winning companies provide exceptional workplaces for employees and encourage a balance between work and enjoying life in the great outdoors, while also respecting the environment.

Peak Design was noted for maintaining perks like unlimited paid time off, flexible remote work policy and perks like countertops that convert into ping-pong tables and a rotating home-brew beer station. At the core of Peak Design’s office culture is a strictly adhered-to mission that places employee-happiness above growth objectives. “We’re all instilled with the trust and freedom to make our jobs conform to the lives we want to live, and not the other way around,” remarked Adam Saraceno, Head of Marketing.

Environmental responsibility is another key factor in determining a company’s eligibility. For Peak Design, green initiatives and giving is as important to morale, as is to “make the best things.” Peak Design is a committed member of  1% For The Planet and has taken meaningful steps to produce its newest products out of 100% recycled fabric, and offset all carbon emissions from every traceable stage of Peak Design manufacturing and company operation.

“We are aware that making and shipping things harms the environment,” says Annie Nyborg, head of Corporate Responsibility and Environment. “Offsetting this impact is a responsibility we feel as both a company and individuals.”

About Peak Design
Since 2010, Peak Design has been building innovative carry solutions with a simple overarching design directive: make the best things. The idea for our first product was born on a motorcycle trip through Southeast Asia and has since expanded to include a cross-functional ecosystem of bags, pouches, slings, straps, and clips. We’ve won applause along the way, but we’re most proud of the fact that we’re 100% crowdfunded and 100% employee-owned. We’ve raised over $20.8 Million through 8 Kickstarter campaigns, allowing Peak Design to stay investor-free and focused on the things that matter most: designing great products, fostering happy employees, and taking care of our customers and the natural environment.
