June 23, 2021

June 23, 2021 (BOULDER, Colo.) – La Sportiva, makers of the world’s finest mountain footwear, apparel, and ski hard goods, today announces the introduction of the brand’s new apparel collection for Spring 2022. This extensive collection of climbing, running, and hiking apparel for both men and women focuses on exceptional performance for each of the collection’s core sports while incorporating as many sustainable fabrics and technologies as possible.

“Despite the global pandemic that caused major disruptions around the world, the La Sportiva apparel team in Zianno, Italy forged ahead with designing and producing the brand’s best apparel collection yet, says Jonathan Lantz, president of La Sportiva North America. “It’s a broad collection of exceptional quality that will perform for climbers, mountain runners, and hikers alike. The line is also the most environmentally friendly collection the brand has ever produced with organic cotton, recycled fabrics, PFC-free DWR coatings and Bluesign-certified pieces throughout.”

100% certified organic cotton that is grown without pesticides or chemicals is used extensively throughout the men’s and women’s climbing collections. When worn, these organic cotton garments are extremely soft and comfortable, while providing the climbing performance that climbers expect. Products include the Men’s Bleauser Short, Ectastic Short, Pure Pant, Roots Pant, Talus Pant, and Fuente Pant and for women the Joya Short, Onyx Short, Escape Short, Stone Short, Tundra Pant Temple Pant, and Madala Pant. Over 50% of the Spring 22 climbing collection includes organic cotton and with a variety of feature sets, retail at various price points.

The recycled polyester fabrics that are used in the La Sportiva line come from used PET bottles and are produced using environmentally friendly recycling processes while maintaining the highest level of performance and function. All garments that utilize recycled fabric and insulation carry a green recycled fabric logo that identifies recycled materials on both the inside and outside of the garment. In the climbing collection the men’s Charge Short, Belya Short, Ecstatic Shirt, Talus Pant, Fuente Pant, and women’s Balance Short Mantra Short, Stone Short, Mantra Pant, and Mandala Pant all include recycled content at price points that meet a variety of budgets.

PFCs (Perfluorinated Chemicals) are frequently used to improve the water repellency of fabrics and other outdoor equipment. These compounds don’t break down in the environment and may have adverse health effects. Wherever you see the PFC-Free label, La Sportiva has used alternative technologies to improve a product’s water repellency without resorting to treatments containing PFCs. Since January 2012, La Sportiva has also been an official Bluesign® member. This certifies that their textile supply chain complies with the internationally recognized environmental and social criteria. Falling into both categories is the Vento Windbreaker, a windproof and PFC-free water-repellent jacket with an open back panel for breathability and Bluesign-approved fabrics for $89.

The entire apparel line for both men and women will be available at fine specialty retailers across the country and at www.sportiva.com in Spring 2022. During the summer and fall of 2021, select samples for media are by working with PR representative Cory Lowe at Cory.Lowe@BackboneMedia.net.
