Strafe and Powder Tell Stories of World’s Most Iconic Chairlifts in New Film Series

November 9, 2016

ASPEN, Colo. (November 9, 2016) — In collaboration with Powder Productions, Strafe, a technical outerwear brand inspired by living life in the mountains, showcases the world’s most treasured chairlifts in its four-part Iconic Lifts series, which launches online today.

“This project reinvigorated my love and respect for the chairlift,” says Ian Foreman, director of the project. “During our research and location filming, we were able to unearth the stories behind some of the best chairlifts on earth. Lifts like Wildcat at Alta and Helbronner’s Skyway in Courmayer, Italy, are gifts given to us by passionate skiers that happen to be patrollers, engineers, architects and builders. I have a deep appreciation for the vision and hard work of these visionaries, and I hope that comes through in the films.”

Each installment in the Iconic Lifts series digs into the story behind a renowned chairlift, with interviews featuring resort staff and local skiers. The films also feature professional skiers and Strafe ambassadors, including 2015 Freeride World Tour champion George Rodney, Powder Skier of the Year nominee Thayne Rich, Connery Lundin, Jordie Karlinkski and Benny Schmidt.

“These lifts are sanctuaries to the skiers that ride them,” says Strafe Director of Marketing Whit Boucher. “We often tell the exploits of exceptional skiers, or ski areas themselves, but no one has truly told the stories of the iconic chairlifts that carry the athletes to the goods. Strafe is honored by the opportunity to work with Powder to expose the tales behind our most beloved lifts, including Deep Temerity on our home mountain, Aspen Highlands.”

The series premieres November 9 with the Deep Temerity. The slow-speed triple chair laps skiers on 2,000 vertical feet of expert-only terrain and gives access to the famed Highlands Bowl. The Deep Temerity Lift has inspired the design behind some of Strafe’s top performing apparel.

Iconic Lifts will also feature Squaw Valley’s KT-22, Alta’s Wildcat, and the Helbronner’s Skyway located in Courmayer, Italy. To learn more click here.
